The Barn (11061135) and The Stables (11028227) are a semi-detached barn conversion set within the picturesque village of Kilham, high up on the Yorkshire Wolds. Formerly part of the village farms, the properties have been renovated to a very good standard, both offering large bright rooms with huge glass windows along the full length of the buildings, overlooking a shared garden. All bedrooms have been tastefully decorated and have deep mattresses so you’re guaranteed a peaceful night’s sleep. The properties are ideally placed to explore the Yorkshire coastline and the rolling hills of the Yorkshire Wolds, making them a must for walkers, cyclists and families alike looking to enjoy this hidden corner of the East Riding of North Yorkshire.
The Stables consists of spacious open plan living area with exposed beamed ceiling, boasting a large fire place with wood burner. Two double sized bedrooms, one with a king size bed and the other with twin single beds (which can be zipped together to form a double bed), there is a separate snug room with dining table, an open fire and a day bed. The bathroom has a shower over a sunken bath with hand rail.
Please note although the property is on ground level there are several steps to note; one step outside the property, inside - two up to the bedrooms, one down to the kitchen and three steps down to the snug area.
Please note there is an open staircase (with a stair gate fitted) to the first floor which has limited head room - as a holiday let this area is out of bounds.
Outdoors both properties have their own private patio area with seating; an ideal area to enjoy an early breakfast or alfresco dining in an evening. The beautiful shared cottage garden attracts the sun for the majority of the day.
A short walk from The Stables & Barn brings you to the centre of the village where there are two local pubs offering real ale, great food and and Yorkshire hospitality. There is a convenience shop nearby for essentials. For walkers and cyclists, the surrounding country lanes offer access to a network of public footpaths and bridleways which criss-cross the stunning countryside and limestone hills that surround the property. The historic Wolds market town of Driffield is only a short drive away, which offers independent shops, tea rooms, restaurants and even a weekly market.
Nearby, the stately homes of Sewerby Hall, Sledmere House, Burton Agnes, Burton Constable and Castle Howard are waiting to be explored. The coastal towns of Scarborough, Bridlington, Hornsea and Filey are within thirty minutes drive away, offering promenades, ice creams and of course the usual amusement arcades and fish and chips. Alpamare water park in Scarborough is a fantastic day out and fun all ages! A visit to the chalk cliffs of Flamborough and Bempton RSPB Reserve offer spectacular coastal views. The historic city of York is under an hour away, making these properties an ideal base for a holiday on the Wolds. With private parking and a bike store, they are perfect for those attending one of the many classic car shows this area is famous for. Beach 12 miles. Shop and pub 100 yards, restaurant 4 miles.
