The Old Bakery is a beautifully presented two-bedroom mews cottage with its own private entrance and tucked away in the quiet, ever-popular area of Dean Village and perfectly located to explore Edinburgh. Situated just ten minutes away from the hustle and bustle of Princes Street, you can enjoy the best of both worlds, as guests find the Dean Village, a beautiful oasis nestled close to the beautiful water of Leith.
This stunning executive two-bedroom apartment boasts contemporary interiors and has been lovingly put together with personal touches throughout. The very generous living and dining area is decorated with a chic palette, and has ample seating with two comfy sofas, and lavished with all the little comforts to get you feeling right at home. Your entertainment needs are taken care of with a Smart TV, complimentary WiFi, board games and puzzles.
To the back of the living area is the uber-sophisticated kitchen where you’ll find all the mod cons the discerning traveller needs – there’s also a breakfast bar featuring a trendy pass-through to the dining area. Integrated appliances include an oven and hob, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, microwave and washer/dryer.
The indulgence continues, with two sizeable double bedrooms inviting you in for a soothing night’s sleep, both with plush carpeting and decorated in calming, neutral tones. The master bedroom has a king-size bed, and the other has twin beds. Both have plentiful storage with built-in wardrobes. A stylish, large shower room completes this fabulous holiday home.
Please note we do not provide hypoallergenic bedding at our properties.
Just a short 10-minute walk, you can find Edinburgh's famous Princes Street with its spectacular castle views, beautiful gardens, and plenty of shopping opportunities. Alternatively, you can walk along George Street with its designer shops during the day (including Harvey Nichols Department Store) and at night its wide variety of stylish bars and restaurants.
And you’ll be spoilt for choice for things to do in the local area… You can browse exhibitions in the Dean Gallery and the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art (both practically on your doorstep), and enjoy a beautiful walk along the Water of Leith, close to the apartment. Here you'll find a cycle path too, with the route stretching for just over 12 miles from Balerno to Leith alongside the river. It's a flat path, ideal for cyclists looking for an easy ride, or walkers after a waterside stroll. Along the way, there are lots of pretty waterfalls and weirs with wildlife such as herons to look out for.
The beloved area of Stockbridge is an easy walk from the apartment and well worth exploring. You'll uncover a treasure-trove of shops, quirky boutiques, independent restaurants and cafes - perfect for a lazy Sunday brunch and a great spot for people-watching.

Check in is from 4pm. This property operates a self-check-in via key safe. The key safe code will be issued before your arrival.
The latest departure time is 11:00, however, a guaranteed later departure (up to 20:00) can be arranged for a fee of 50% of the daily rate for that day but please note this is subject to no existing booking arriving that day already.
A £200 refundable damage/security deposit is due 7 days before arrival and refunded after departure.
All properties are strictly non-smoking and do not accept hen/stag/party groups. At least one guest must be over 25 years old.

Great amenities, great location
We were so comfortable here at the end of 3 weeks of travel with our 4 and 6 year olds. Walking most places was manageable and the neighborhood was quiet, safe, and beautiful. We would absolutely stay again!

Beautiful Quiet Deans Village Cottage
The Old Bakery was a terrific location for exploring Edinburgh, off the beaten path but not in an inconvenient way. The property was clean and homey with nice amenities. The property manager was quick with responses to questions. I would absolutely stay here again.

Perfection
I can’t speak highly enough of this wonderful property! From the perfect location (a gorgeous part of the City, close to everything but nice and quiet as well), to the comfortable beds and living area, to the modern, updated kitchen and bathroom — it was perfect. And the property manager was great, super responsive. My family and I loved our time there and would stay there again!

Reviews very accurate
I’m getting skeptical about reviews in this age but they were very accurate. I would gladly stay at this property again. The sole drawback was the construction project across the street. If you want to sleep in past 7am you may find it challenging. It simply saved me from setting my alarm.

Great Location
The apt is very well located to walk to the Modern Museums, the Leith water walk, and to get to the West End/Stockbridge and surrounding areas and sites. GREAT cafe, The Dean, just a few steps away. The construction going on across the street, was very considerate, but some unavoidable noise during the day. Additional amenities on arrival would be a paper towel roll, laundry soap, plus a coffee press for a welcomed, additional appliance. Perhaps additional shelving in bath and shower. Great neighbors, a true Edinburgh experience.

This place is not as described in listing
Renter beware-this place is located in front of a major construction site with continuous construction noise during daytime hours -there is no free or metered parking anywhere close to this unit, the nearest paid parking is a 20 minute walk away -there is mold in the entire wall corner next to the bed in the second bedroom-the unit is very cold and the herring unit is kept at an uncomfortable low temp and you’ll need to wear sweatshirts and socks to sleep warmly at night-do not rent this place

Thank you for your feedback. While we regret that you did not find aspects of your stay satisfactory, we feel it is important to clarify several points raised in your review.
Firstly, the presence of construction in the surrounding area is clearly disclosed in the property listing and the information provided to guests prior to booking. We make every effort to ensure transparency, noting that there may be some construction nearby. During your stay, the pavement opposite the property was being replaced, which caused more noise than usual in the early days of your visit. This work, however, was temporary, and nearly all external construction has since been completed. Additionally, the property is equipped with double-glazed windows to minimise any potential noise disturbances.
Regarding parking, our listing and welcome pack explicitly state that the property does not include free parking. We provide detailed guidance on available options, including free parking during evenings and weekends just 100 yards away, metered parking on Belford Road during daytime hours, and more affordable metered or free parking options within a 10–15 minute walk. These details are clearly outlined for guests to review prior to booking. As for the heating system, we provided assistance during your stay, walking you through how to adjust the thermostat to increase the temperature to your preferred level. After this, we received no further communication from you regarding any heating issues, and we assumed the matter had been resolved. Finally, the issue of mould mentioned in your review was not raised with us during your stay. Had it been, we would have addressed it immediately. We take such matters seriously and have since arranged for an inspection to ensure the property continues to meet our high standards. We strive to provide a comfortable and enjoyable experience for all guests, and it is unfortunate that your expectations were not met. However, we stand by the accuracy of our listing and the clear communication of all pertinent details prior to your booking. We hope this clarifies the points raised for future visitors considering our property.

Edinburgh West End - The Old Bakery
We arrived by train and took a taxi to the Old Bakery. We found everything to be very clean and comfortable, and well equipped with anything we could possibly want! In an old building, the spacious apartment has been very well refurbished and has a nice modern feel. There is a nice welcome book which gives helpful information about the area, which was appreciated.
We didn’t have a car and walked or used public transport, which suited us just fine. There is a large construction project in the immediate area, this did not impact us as we were gone everyday and there was no construction at night. If you have a car I think parking could be an issue, and I would advise you to verify with the management company.
Communication with Tony the property manager was very good, we had no issues and our damage deposit was returned in a few days.
I highly recommend the Old Bakery!
