A small but snug and beautifully equipped space for two in the glorious Golden Valley. Utterly peaceful, beautiful views. Ideal for walking, visiting Hay, Hereford, Brecon and the Welsh borders. Pets welcome (but not compulsory).
The space
In Herefordshire's beautiful Golden Valley, with easy access to Hereford, Hay-on-Wye or Abergavenny. A south facing annexe, entirely independent and separate from the main house, consisting of kitchen/sitting room, bathroom and bedroom with double bed. Equipped as we would expect it to be if we lived in it, so TV, Wi-Fi, IPad dock, wood burning stove, linen, towels and all kitchen equipment. It's designed ideally for 2, but extra people may be able to sleep in the house if necessary (enquire in advance). Minimum stay is 2 nights with reductions for a week or more.
This is one of the few remaining unspoiled rural areas in the UK, with many walks including the Cat's Back, the Black Mountains, Offa's Dyke, and at 45 - 60 minutes drive, the Brecon Beacons.
There is easy access to Hereford or Hay-on-Wye (20 minutes), also Abergavenny (30 minutes), Brecon (45 minutes), Ludlow (50 minutes), Cardiff (70 minutes), Swansea (90 minutes) - all assuming you have a car. There are a few buses, but a car is pretty essential. Hereford is the only place you will encounter much traffic (and Cardiff and Swansea of course should you get that far).
Ideal for a walking holiday, exploring the Welsh Borders, the Hay Festival (when on), and even a weekend break doing absolutely nothing except relax in the peace of our beautiful countryside.
(Please see 'Other things to note')
Guest access
You will be entirely independent, but within a few yards of the main house, so you can beat on our door if something goes wrong - and please do. There's nothing worse than guests telling you as they leave that actually the shower/heater/light/whatever wasn't working, but it didn't really matter. Of course it matters! There is ample on-site parking.
Other things to note
Pets are welcome. We have a large red setter (Monty) who expects 24/7 cuddles and will do his best to convince you that he is in desperate need of food. He is NOT allowed in the unit, whatever he may try to tell you, and please don't encourage him as later guests may not be dog lovers. Also please note that the unit is small (see the pictures) and if you bring more than 2 large dogs it may seem crowded.
The garden is fully fenced but is shared with ourselves (NOT private). You are encouraged to treat it as your own (though not the vegetable patch up the steps, please).
Also please note that particularly in the summer WiFi can be unreliable (Vodafone says it's the leaves on the trees). Generally this only means that you may have to move a few metres to find the signal (you're welcome to come into the house if it gets that bad).
Reviews may be seen on the AirBnB site where we have been super-hosts for a number of years.
