Plan on receiving ALOT of messages from the hostess. The door connecting the two levels should have been opened since we rented the entire house. It took some time to find the code and get the door opened which was not a relaxed welcome. Otherwise very clean and thoughtful property

In response to this review, yes, we do communicate with our guests. We find that "too much" communication is better than not enough, as it often seems guests don't read the information that we provide ahead of their booking. In fact, this seems to be what happened with this guest, as the code to the lock on the door between the two levels was sent to her with the Check-in instructions in advance of her arrival. Our housekeeper locks that door each time the house is cleaned because it is possible a last minute booking might come in for just one side of the house and that door needs to be locked when only half of the house has been rented. We can't always assume the next arriving guest has rented the entire house. We're sorry this guest did not experience a "relaxed welcome" as we do our best to make sure our guests have everything they need to be comfortable during their stay.

Beautiful location just minutes away from Liberty University. Our family of 6 comfortably stayed at the house with plenty of room to spare! The neighborhood was quiet as each house sits on about an acre property. The house was immaculately clean. Communication with the host was easy and they provided accurate check-in/out information. The next time we visit Lynchburg, we will absolutely look to stay at this location again!

Great place for a few friends to stay while in the area. It was close to town but far enough away to not be in town. Would definitely recommend.

Very nice and convenient to LU

We are thankful for our stay at Candlers Mountain Retreat. The house was clean and comfortable, and the owners were very communicative and helpful. The location is close to Liberty University, which is where we were going most days as our daughter is a student there.

Wedding in Lynchburg

The house was perfect for the eight of us. Very clean, well appointed (even had a13×9 baking pan we made use of), and comfortable. Clear communication regarding check in and out procedures. Pretty neighborhood. We'd definitely stay there again.

Excellent!

Our two night stay was a family affair for an event at Liberty University. To have four rooms ( 3 king size beds) and two full baths was awesome. The house had everything needed to entertain guests. The kichen was well stocked with supplies, the house was clean and and the property well manicured. It had a great indoor and outdoor space.5 stars for sure.....

Great house/apartment close to Lynchburg....

We rented the upstairs apartment for 4 nights. The apartment was really well appointed and everything is new and in good condition and good working order. Plenty of plates/cooking utensils etc if you want to prepare your own food, which we did some of the time. All very good quality. Valerie was very helpful and provided good information prior to arrival and helped with our self inflicted problems getting into the apartment the first evening we arrived - thank you Valerie! The location is peaceful and the surrounding properties really quiet. Deer wondering around in the morning and generally very bucolic. We liked that. And downtown Lynchburg (10-15 min) and surrounding areas are readily accessible. Another group had rented the downstairs apartment and they were a little noisy and the sound travelled upstairs rather easily, but this was a minor issue as they quieted down reasonably early. This would not even be an issue if you rented the whole house! The landscaping/garden is basic but very well kept (basically grass), and that is perhaps a personal preference. Definitely would stay again and really did enjoy the experience of staying at Candlers Mountain Retreat. Thank you Valerie and Redgie!

Beautiful home

The house was even cuter in person than the pictures. Everything was spotless, and the owner was very helpful! The set-up is perfect if you have more than one family staying in the house. The kitchen was well stocked, and it was just a short drive to Liberty.
