Central Period Cottage with Parking - Market Place,Tetbury Cotswolds
Summary:
Market Place Cottage - built in the 16th century the Grade II listed cottage believed to house the former Keepers cottage. Step through the private door off the famous 16th Century Market square, into a quaint courtyard with off road private parking space the ideal central base for a couples break in the Cotswolds and visit the local attractions of Westonbirt, Bath, Newark Park or High Grove gardens. The cottage is less than 12 minutes drive for Gatcombe park, the home of the Festival British Eventing.
The Space:
Tucked away from the high street, enter the property into the bright kitchen/diner, the kitchen features a large dining table with antique chairs and an exposed stone wall housing a feature cabinet. Head through into the cozy sitting room, where the exposed stone wall houses a fireplace with a wood-burning stove, as well as a new sofa to relax on whilst enjoying something on TV or curling up with a book from the bookshelf.
Upstairs there is a large bedroom with a comfortable super king bed, TV, and idyllic window seat. The vibrant red family bathroom offers a large and comfortable bath to soak away your stresses before heading out for dinner.
Your dog will feel welcome too, with toys, leads, and dog bowls available.
Guest Access:
Perfectly situated, surrounded by the beautiful Cotswolds rolling countryside, Tetbury has something to offer everyone for all seasons. From its iconic 17th century Market Hall, where markets are held twice weekly to the elegant Georgian wool merchants’ houses, Tetbury has a sense of timeless beauty. The medieval street of Chipping Steps, lined with picturesque weavers’ cottages to the awe-inspiring Georgian Gothic church.
If shopping is your thing, then Tetbury is the ideal destination. Tetbury has a range of individual shops selling all kinds of unique and special items from fashion to vintage homeware. The very popular Highgrove shop is also here and HRH Prince Charles’ private house 'High Grove' is just 1 mile away, with garden tours available. If you’re searching for antiques then Tetbury is renowned for its many antique shops.
Just on the outskirts of Tetbury, you will find the National Arboretum at Westonbirt, 15,000 specimens from all over the globe offer the perfect place to relax. Westonbirt is truly one of the most beautiful tree gardens to be found anywhere in the world and a must in autumn.
Gatcombe Park, the home of Princess Royal, is also nearby, famous for hosting The Festival of British Eventing or Badminton HorseTrials approximately 20 minutes away.
A short drive away, discover the historic town of Malmesbury, the oldest borough in England, with its' impressive semi-ruined Abbey and picturesque winding streets.
The historic town of Cirencester is not far away with its Cathedral and Corinium Museum as well as individual shops and coffee houses. Lovely walks are to be had around Cirencester Park.
A little further you can visit the Cotswold Water Park, one of the largest areas of inland water offering a wide range of nature activities and water sports. The famous Wildfowl and Wetlands site at Slimbridge and the magnificent Berkeley Castle are also within easy reach.
The Neighborhood:
The cottage has a cozy homely feel, ideal for a couple wanting to explore Tetbury, well-known for its independent shops, including antiques, vintage & interiors, exclusive boutiques & the High Grove shop. As well as the stunning countryside of the surrounding Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
It is also a great base for a trip to Gifford Circus - it is much more than a Circus, it's a magical nod to old fashioned circus with a glamorous twist.
Getting Around:
I would recommend using a car to get around but there is public transport, that has buses running to Cirencester and surrounding Cotswold villages.
The nearest train station to Tetbury is Kemble, which is around 7.5 miles away. London to Tetbury can catch a train from London to Kemble and transfer to Tetbury by bus or taxi. Some trains are direct while others involve changing at Swindon and take approximately 1 hour.

Zu Gast bei Kirsteen

Hi there! My name is Kirsteen, and I’ve been living here in Cotswolds, for the last 20 years.
I love home interiors and period properties, meeting new people and familiarizing myself with other cultures. This is, essentially, why I’ve decided to become a full-time host. I’m enthusiastic about outdoor activities such as hiking, cycling, and even a little bit of surfing
