The setting of the cortijo is magnificent, its hard for a picture to do it justice. The vista from the terrace and pool is phenomenal. It was also really nice to have the three mature trees and grass as it allowed our little one to play outside without the worries of getting too hot in the midday sun. The pool was a great size and a welcome place to cool off for all.
The owners take great care of the property and they were generous to share produce from the garden onsite regularly. The tomatoes especially were very tasty.
With the changeover day being a Saturday and all local and not so local shops being closed on the Sunday it would have been nice to have a wee welcome pack, bread, milk, wine etc? But it is not essential and we had a hearty afternoon meal in nearby Algarinejo (20mins, there is also a well stocked supermarket here). It was however disappointing that none of the little things like salt, oil, herbs were present at the property from previous visitors. We have stayed in a lot of self catering villas and this was the first where this was the case.
We visited Granada (80mins) and Iznajar (15mins) and both were well worth it. Walk to the Castillo at the top of the hill in Iznajar and you will be rewarded both with great views and a nice wee restaurant to energize in.
Overall the break and villa was just what we wanted, to relax and enjoy a break in the sun with family. A good choice.
