The barn has been renovated to a very high standard and was spotlessly clean. It had absolutely everything we needed and the hot tub was fantastic! Perfect Getaway

Great spot in rural Devon. We had a very relaxing time enjoying the large open plan kitchen and living spaces, as well as the outdoor table, sun chairs and hot tub. Everything was very clean and communication with host was clear and helpful. Beautiful walks around the area; and otherwise plenty peace and quiet to enjoy. Highly recommend and we look forward to staying again!

Amazing house, hosts were fantastic, fully equipped with everything we needed. We met Alison upon arrival, it was lovely to receive a welcome basket. The garden is fantastic, great views across the fields and loved hearing the trains pass every now and then. One of our group went out for a run one morning, and didn't pass anyone but the local cows. Highly recommend this barn, it was exceptional. Hot tub was a lovely addition, we really didn't want to leave.

Lovely, quiet getaway for families

The barn was clean and spacious with everything you need to relax with family or a group of friends. There was plenty of space in the garden for children to run around in the fresh air and it is well-located to go towards either stretch of Devonshire coastline and Exeter too. Allison was a very attentive host and would respond very quickly to any messages we sent.

Top holiday

We had a really great time exploring the local area from this barn. The barn was perfect for us with comfy big beds and en-suites. The family kitchen and eating area was perfect to all hang out together and we enjoyed winding down each night in the cosy lounge. Recommend the Agatha Christie National Trust (via greenway ferry and park and ride from Dartmouth) and Castle Drogo. Also went on a steam train, went to the beach, played in the garden and enjoyed exploring the local area and river walk.

Fantastic stay!

Walnut tree barn was a fantastic home away from home. Well equipped and sparkly clean, the pictures do not do it justice. We ranged in age from 74 to 16 and all enjoyed our stay. We made use of the hot tub and the games we found the in cupboard and had a very relaxing time. Communication from Alison was great, lots of information before hand and a great folder containing what we needed to know at the property. We hope to be back one day!

Birthday Celebrations

I stayed at Walnut Barn for a long weekend along with 5 old school friends to celebrate our big birthday year! We had a fantastic chilled stay. The barn is beautiful with great views over the countryside and a quiet away from it all location. Lovely garden with plenty of seating areas and the hot tub was well used! There was plenty of room in the barn, great to have 4 bedrooms, all en-suite, snd a lovely large open plan kitchen/diner. The barn is very well equipped, with all you needed for your stay. Lovely personal touches too and Alison was a communicative host! Would happily recommend this property. Excellent place for a large family/friends get together.

Fabulous Property

What an amazing barn conversion. The open plan design made it feel spacious and airy yet comfortable. The kitchen was very well equipped and there were instructions for the combination microwave, oven and hob in the information folder, which was useful. It was fantastic that all bedrooms were en-suite and the same size. This made room allocation a lot easier. The peacefulness of the country side created a relaxed atmosphere and the view of the field and trees from the garden added to the tranquility. We did not feel isolated by the location as Crediton was a short drive away. It was great to be given the choice of having double or twin beds by Alison and there were some lovely touches in the form of biscuits, teabags and coffee to welcome us. I would certainly recommend anyone to stay in this property and we would certainly stay there again.

The peaceful countryside setting and views across the meadow are some of our favourite features too, while still being close enough to Crediton and the local amenities. It’s lovely to hear that the welcome touches helped you settle in and feel at home. We always want guests to have everything they need for a relaxing stay, and we’re glad the information folder was useful.

Amazing property and layout. Just right for myself and 4 other friends. I loved that Alison accommodated my disability very appreciative. Alison was warm and attentive. Lovely touch that she was at the property on our arrival. The space was brilliant for 5 people to converse and to have their own space. Definitely worth another visit

Lovely stay at the barn

Amazing place, lovely big hot tub and big space to cook and relax. Netflix in each bedroom and living areas, lovely log fire, Bluetooth speakers and different lighting and underfloor heating settings. Alison left us a bottle of bubbly which was a lovely touch and was very easy to get hold of and attentive. She even brought us out some replacement fairy lights from her home straight away when some weren't working. Very cute dog too!

Excellent facilities, beautiful location & very accommodating host.

Modern & homely barn in a beautiful countryside setting. The barn is spacious but very easy to use. The hot tub was the icing on the cake! The whole party really enjoyed their stay. It was a special weekend and I have no hesitation recommending this barn. Alison communicated very well in particularly difficult times - faultless!

We're Alison and Ian, and we live next door to Walnut Tree Barn with Rhani our friendly Cockapoo, and Cleo our curious cat.

We love living in the beautiful Devon countryside and enjoy everything the area has to offer, from country walks and local pubs to exploring the coast and nearby national parks. Hosting gives us the opportunity to share this special corner of Devon with guests and help them create wonderful memories with family and friends.

We like to welcome guests shortly after they arrive to make sure everything is just right, then we'll leave you to enjoy your stay in peace. If you need anything during your visit or would like recommendations for places to eat, walk or explore, we're always happy to help.

Darum fiel die Entscheidung auf diese Unterkunft

Alison grew up on the family dairy farm, and after spending several years living elsewhere, we decided to return to the place we both love and make it our home. We lovingly converted the old sheep barn and mill into our family home before transforming the former cow shed into Walnut Tree Barn, creating a spacious and welcoming holiday retreat where guests can experience the peace and beauty of the Devon countryside.

We chose to return because of the wonderful lifestyle this area offers. Surrounded by rolling countryside, quiet lanes and beautiful walking trails, it's a place where you can truly slow down and relax.

At the same time, we're just a few minutes from the historic market town of Crediton and only a short drive from Exeter, Dartmoor, Exmoor and both the North and South Devon coastlines.

Whether you're looking for scenic walks, cosy country pubs, sandy beaches or simply somewhere peaceful to unwind in the hot tub, we think Mid Devon is the perfect base for exploring everything the county has to offer.

Das macht diese Unterkunft einzigartig

Walnut Tree Barn is full of surprises. From the outside, it blends naturally into its rural surroundings, retaining the character of the original farm buildings. Step inside, however, and you'll discover a wonderfully light, spacious and calming interior, with vaulted ceilings, tasteful contemporary décor and generous open-plan living spaces designed for relaxing together.

One of our favourite features is the enclosed garden. It feels peaceful and secluded while enjoying uninterrupted views across Oak Tree Meadow, where the River Yeo gently winds through the valley. Whether you're soaking in the hot tub, dining on the patio or simply watching the changing seasons and local wildlife, it's a place that invites you to slow down and enjoy the tranquillity of the Devon countryside.

The combination of rural charm, modern comfort, four flexible ensuite bedrooms and an idyllic countryside setting makes Walnut Tree Barn a truly special place for families and groups to reconnect and create lasting memories.
