Cleanest cabin with the best view

This cabin was perfect. Very clean, great view and organized. It was interestingly situated high up on a mountain and it was a lot of fun for us to drive the jeep (that host provided) to go up and down the hill on the rocky roads, very adventurous. I would definitely recommend it. It was just the two of us but the cabin can comfortably fit in a lot more people.

The view is Amazing! Better than the pictures! The place was clean and everything went super smooth. Definitely going back up there in the future. My small Honda had a rough time up the rocky road so a pick up, jeep or SUV is recommended

The Overlook Cabin

We enjoyed the breathtaking views from the porch and the seclusion. Great cabin for couples who like to hike, especially if you have a dog. The national park is 30 minutes from the most northern entrance and second most northern entrance. Brain was a great host, gave us lots of helpful information on what to do/where to eat in the area. He is also very quick with responses if you need anything! Overall a great stay and can't wait to come back!

Choose your own adventure

The Overlook Cabin is a perfect home base for exploring Shenandoah National Park and the Shenandoah Valley. It's a short drive to Skyline Drive, Luray or Front Royal and there are plenty of things to do. In the evening we enjoyed coming home before sunset so we could watch it from the deck and then relax in the hot tub. This cabin is clean, comfortable and well stocked with many thoughtful touches. We would gladly stay again!

Mountain Retreat

My girlfriend and I stayed for 5 days with our 2 dogs. Overall no complaints we had a wonderful stay. It was a little tricky getting up the mountain. I managed to get up once with my car but opted to use one of the complimentary 4x4 vehicles afterwards. I highly recommend doing this from the start. It was tricky with the dogs as there is no grass for them to do their business but they adapted. The view is amazing and the stars at night were unbelievable from the hot tub. We had a great time and are glad we made the trip.

Absolutely gorgeous views, but the road!!

My husband and I stayed here over a long weekend for our anniversary. The property is wonderful! It was perfect for our needs, and we loved having a king sized bed to sleep in. We spent every morning and evening out on the deck. The view from the deck is absolutely breathtaking! The fact that the deck is covered makes it great to be out even when it's raining. The hot tub was large and comfortable. It was nice to be able to look at the stars at night. The only drawback we noticed was the lack of a washer/dryer (only an issue if it had been a longer trip). We would absolutely stay here again. However, I wish that I had heeded the advice of the other travelers who had rented this cabin regarding the road. Overlook Road is a poorly maintained road that hasn't been graded in a very long time. There are cave offs, large rocks, loose rocks, and ruts. We were at Castle Vineyards chatting with some locals and told them where we were staying. They were shocked that our vehicle could make it up Overlook Road at all. While we made it down and back every day, it was seriously rough and we grounded out the bottom of our car several times. We learned to serpentine up and down the road in order to avoid grounding out, and it took us a good 20 minutes just to go the 1/2 mile. Do not attempt this road in the dark!! Also, I cannot stress this enough: If you do not have a truck/SUV or 4x4 you should seriously consider renting one if you want to come to this cabin (and get the insurance if you do).

Property was as “comfortable” as advertised…pictures listed with the property did not do justice to the panoramic views from the deck. Kitchen was adequately stocked with the necessary provisions…all appliances were clean and well maintained. Would definitely book this cabin again! Propane grill was clean and ready to go…a big plus added to the outdoor vibe.

Check-in and checkout was flawless. Cabin was amazing and has everything you need to be comfortable from the kitchen amenities to bathroom to laundry! Views are breath taking!! Will be staying again in the future! I will say an SUV did make it easy to get up and down the mountain, no paved roads all dirt. Great waterfall hike nearby as well!! Family enjoyed our get away. 10 out of 10 would stay here all over again!

Relaxing in the mountains

What a delightful break from the city. I spent 5 nights relaxing in the hot tub, watching the stars and reading. The cabin was clean and cozy. The staff on the mountain were very helpful and kind. I can't wait to come back and visit again.

View doesn't disappoint

Our weekend was perfect! We loved the view and the hike to the waterfall was so peaceful (smaller than anticipated when we got there, but still beautiful). The house was decorated to be so homey and comfortable with lots of games to choose from when we wanted a break from the TV. We were snowed in but felt so comfortable the whole weekend! It lives up to the hype!

Totally Awesome

The drive up the mountain to the property was fun and exciting—book this house and you'll see what I mean :) There’s ample parking too. The house was spotless, with a deck offering magnificent valley views. The sunset was beautiful, the internet was excellent, and the privacy was perfect—we didn’t want to leave! If you’re looking for a romantic spot, this is it! It's also ideal for families; the hike to the waterfall is great for kids, even if there’s no waterfall (it only flows during the rainy season), the hike itself is still fantastic! We plan on booking again in the future. P.S. Where else can you sit on a toilet and still have a fantastic mountain view? :)

Beautiful Place

This property is well taken care of and the owner was very responsive to us. The property manager was in direct contact with the owner and responded to our request immediately. The house had everything we needed. I can't say enough about the view - it was unbelievable. Only thing I can say negative is the road that leads to the house. You have to own a SUV to access the property and even that was difficult. Other than that, everything was perfect.

About our stay

Fire pit was not accessible. We could not go to the festival on Saturday because of the intermittent rain and fear we would not make it back up to our cabin on the very hard to travel Road. We also had to re-wash all of the dishes, as there was dried food on each of the plates.

Thanksgiving at Overlook

Best getaway yet

A great property in a fantastic location. Getting up the hill was slightly tricky but that was communicated well in advance and appreciated. The cabin was awesome. The wood stove was lovely, the views were amazing, and the hot tub was a great amenity.
