Set in the countryside and tucked away from public footpaths and roads, peace and quiet are assured. We were made very welcome and all our needs with our very reactive pet were readily met by our hosts.

What a little gem this cottage is! Exceptionally clean and well equipped. Wonderful hosts who communicated well, passing on their extensive knowledge of the area. We walked for miles every day with direct access to the beach which was a hands down winner for our spaniels. Can't wait to return for our next adventure!Thank you Ross and Helen for making our stay memorable.

Lovely cottage, very very peaceful. Deceptively spacious and felt very private. Fully equipped kitchen. Very welcoming and nice hosts. Pet friendly. Lovely garden and fenced in, safe for pets. Very relaxing stay overall. You can walk down to the Coastal path and along to Lower Largo. Handy position for exploring the East Neuk of Fife, the coastal villages up to St Andrews. Will return for sure.

We couldn't have wished for a more well-appointed cottage or more welcoming and generous hosts for our recent two-week stay at The Old Stables. The house was superb, spotlessly clean and very comfortable, with lots of space and everything that we might need, and in such a peaceful rural location yet within a stone's throw from the beach - just perfect! And Helen and Ross were so kind as hosts (and really helpful with lots of tips for local eateries etc that we took much pleasure in sampling), and made us feel very welcome indeed - thank you! We shall certainly be back.....

We really enjoyed our stay in the beautiful cottage. The (almost) private beach is very easy to reach via a field and there is absolute peace and quiet - great for relaxing. Helen & Ross are great hosts with lots of tips for exploring the surrounding area.

Great property set in a beautiful location, ideal for our kind of holiday with our two Labradors. The cottage had everything we needed and being positioned in such a wonderful, quiet place gave us the relaxing holiday we were looking for. Easy access for a walk to the beach as well as numerous places to visit in the area. A great holiday.

Fantastic Stay!

After long days of study at St. Andrews, this cottage was the perfect place to unwind. The beach walks are lovely, and the area was spectacular in the late summer weather. Our dog was warmly welcomed.

Relaxing comfortable cottage close to beach

Lovely comfortable property with everything we could need. Spacious relaxing enclosed garden surrounded by trees and shrubs. Short walk to local beach. Owners live next door and provided lots of information about places to visit.

Wonderful location and hosts

I stayed here because I was moving to Scotland and needed a temporary place whilst looking for a rental. This was a great decision because I was incredibly comfortable and well looked after. The cottage is in the perfect location for accessing the coastal walk - a truly wonderful spot.

Very peaceful and beautiful location. We enjoyed sitting in the garden in the morning, drinking tea and listening to the birds.Easy walk across a field to connect with the Fife Coastal Path.The cottage was clean and comfortable with all the essentials and an amazing welcome basket provided.We would happily stay here again.

Perfect getaway

This was our first stay and it certainly won’t be our last. The cottage is set a in a truly tranquil and stunning location, with access to a scheduled beach and the coastal path which our dogs enjoyed as much as we did. Helen and Ross are excellent hosts, and made sure everything was perfect for our stay. Definitely a hidden gem!

Relaxing Week in Fife

We stayed one week in OldStables. Had a perfect week by enjoying the beach and silence with our dog. Helen and Ross have us good tips where to Go to discover Fife. The house is well equiped and spacious. Will be glad to stay there once again

The old stables

We were very impressed with the property. The owners could not have been more helpful. Cottage was excellently equipped and its location with private beach access was a real bonus and super for dogs.

Family with two young boys. We had a great week. The house and location are beautiful. Short walk across a field to small beach which the boys loved. We went to deer farm and fruit farm in the local area. The house is clean, bed rooms are a good size and it had everything we needed for the stay.

Wonderful cottage, wonderful location with a short walk to the beautiful beach & wonderful hosts. Helen & Ross were very accommodating, they went about & beyond & provided us with a lovely welcome hamper filled with bread/butter/milk/cheese/wine/coffee/fresh flowers & more! 5-Star Review – Peaceful Getaway at Strathairly Cottage

We had a wonderful stay at Strathairly Cottage! Nestled in quiet barley fields, the cottage offered a peaceful retreat with beautiful views and easy walks to the beach and nearby Lower Largo. Our kids had an amazing time hiking, exploring the shore, and even made it up Largo Law! The location made it simple to enjoy great local restaurants in both Lower and Upper Largo. Ross and Helen were outstanding hosts—warm, welcoming, and went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. Highly recommend for a relaxing family getaway in the Scottish countryside.

Stunning location & beautiful cottage

The most relaxing trip, so quiet and secluded yet a short walk along a sandy beach to a local village with a general store and a few pubs. Would highly recommend. My partner and I took our aging dog and went on a few trips further along the coast, St Andrews only 20 minutes away and the cottage was fully stocked with everything you would need not to mention the fabulous welcome hamper. Ross & Helen are fabulous hosts and ensured we had everything we needed

Upper largo cottage

Very welcoming hosts, good communication throughout booking process and stay, short walk through fields to the long dog friendly beach, need to be reasonably fit to do this as fairly steep incline to coastal path. Dogs very happy large secure garden. Need a car as 5 to 10 min car ride to local towns. Lovely well equipped spacious property would rebook

Beautiful, clean and well equipped cottage in a stunning location. Great for our 2 dogs, with an enclosed garden and lovely coastal walks nearby. The cottage was very dog friendly (as we found the whole of Fife to be!) Plenty of local information in the cottage made planning our days out easy. Helen and Ross were incredibly welcoming and helpful on arrival and throughout our stay. We had a great time, with lovely weather and would happily return in the future.

Refreshed and recharged

The cottage is in a lovely location ideally placed to access all of the Fife coast and its attractions. It is so quiet yet close to the beach. We truly loved our stay and Helen and Ross could not have been better hosts. It has all the amenities you’d expect and a few extra touches. We are leaving recharged and looking forward to a return visit. Margot and Freddy (dogs) couldn’t have been happier with the enclosed garden and walks available to them.
