"First of all the owner has been very helpful! The booking process went of smoothly and she was there to hand over the key when we arrived at about 0100 hrs.! During our stay she most kindly supplied us with fresh fruit and home-made delicious cakes.
The apartment is very nice and well kept. It has a very nice spacious balcony where you will find both shadow and sunshine. The view from the balcony is a bit uninteresting, since all you can see is the back of the next houses. There is also a really big roof terrace partly covered and equipped with garden furniture and a barbecue. You can see the sea from the terrace, but in general the view only showes other houses.
There is a bit of noice arround the house / apartment, partly from traffic, partly from some kind of machinery.
In general the apartment is very well equipped, however we missed a couple of good carving knives!
The apartment is located in the eastern end of Balestrate. Most shops, bars and restaurants are located in the western end, but this doesn´t make any big difference since Balestrate is quite small.
The nearest beach might be 300 away as the crow flies, but it´s about one kilometre if you walk or drive there. This small beach is OK, but I recommend you walk or drive the 2,5 kilometres to the much bigger and better beach at the western end of Balestrate!
Balestrate is a perfect base, but I advice you to have a car at hand. There is a bus service and the train runs through as well, though, but it is a small and rather quiet town, so if you look for "action" or a tourist centre, you will need to go to at least Castellamare del Golfo, which is located app. 12 kilometres west of Balestrate.
We visited Palermo, Trapani, Erice, San Vito lo Capo, Segeste, Selinunte, Castellamare del Golfo, Marsala not to forget the beautiful area of Lo Zingaro. We also simply drove into the highland. The landscape is really impressive and perfect for cyckling.
We would highly recommend this apartment!
