Wayside Cottage Ferienhaus

Das Wayside Cottage ist ein Ende einer 150 Jahre alten Terrasse im historischen Dorf St Osyth. Es befindet sich zwischen dem Dorfzentrum, wo Sie alle notwendigen Annehmlichkeiten finden, und dem See, an dem Sie Wassersportaktivitäten, malerischen Spaziergängen und Radtouren nachgehen können. Das Haus wurde komplett renoviert, um alle originellen Eigenschaften der Wkyky-Decken, der alten Holzbalken und der originalen Gittertüren zu erhalten. Die Zimmer sind gemütlich und einladend.

In unserem urigen Cottage können vier Gäste bequem Platz finden. Wir können jedoch fünf Personen beherbergen, indem wir das Einzelbett im zweiten Schlafzimmer zu einem Doppelbett verstellen. Bei Bedarf können wir einen zusätzlichen Esszimmerstuhl oder einen Hochstuhl liefern.

Wir bieten kontinentales Frühstück, ausreichend für Ihren ersten Morgen, bestehend aus Tee, Kaffee, Milch, einer kleinen Auswahl an Müsli, Orangensaft, Brot, Butter und Marmelade.
Im Außenlager befindet sich ein Holzkohlegrill für Ihre Nutzung im schönen Garten.

Bei der Ankunft finden Sie eine gekühlte Flasche Wein im Kühlschrank, um Sie im Wayside Cottage willkommen zu heißen.

Wir sind sehr hundefreundlich und unser Hugo (Schokoladenlabrador) liebt die Spaziergänge in der Umgebung. Bringen Sie also bitte Ihre mit und genießen Sie die fantastischen Spaziergänge.
Wir wohnen nur ein paar Kilometer weiter auf der Straße und können Ihnen Tipps zu den örtlichen Gegebenheiten, Restaurants, Hundewanderungen, Radtouren, Tagesausflügen zu nahe gelegenen Stränden, Dörfern und natürlich Dedham the Constable Country usw. geben.
Wake-Boarding, Kajakfahren und Paddle-Boarding können am lokalen See gemietet werden, der nur 1 Gehminute entfernt ist. Dort finden Sie nicht nur zwei Wakeboard-Kabel mit Sprüngen, sondern auch den größten wasseraufblasbaren Hindernislauf in Essex! !

Da die St Osyth Parish die trockenste Gegend in Großbritannien ist, mit durchschnittlich 507 mm Niederschlag pro Jahr ein Priorat und eine Geschichte des Witching, sollte es reichlich Unterhaltung geben.

Fantastic stay!

An amazing well equipped cottage. Hosts were fantastic and couldn't do enough for us. Would highly recommend for a family break with your four legged fur baby :-). Lots of lovely walks and the nearby water park was a hit with the braver members of the family. They also do great coffee and cake.

Cottage getaway

Perfect location for quiet holiday

This cottage is perfect for a quiet getaway. It is clean and has many little extras included that you would not expect. Lovely garden which is very secure. St Osyth is a little village with some good dog walks. The hosts have thought of everything to help you have a good holiday.

Brilliant Cottage

Everything about the cottage was wonderful. Lovely extra touches such as wine in fridge along with everyday essentials - milk, bread etc. Excellent value for money with all bed linen and towels included. The robes and toiletries made it feel like a hotel stay! Nicely placed for exploring area. Would highly recommend.

Peaceful, cosy cottage

Like home from home & very comfortable. Lots of extras provided. Eg bread, milk, tea. Street parking a little difficult but owner had sorted parking arrangements with a nearby local business. Good location to explore Essex coast.

Cute little cottage

Enjoyed our stay, cottage is welcoming and attention to detail appreciated. Very clean and everything you need is thought of. Garden is nice and well kept. Only down side is having no parking, but owner has arranged parking at nearby water park, but this was a little problematic for us. There is quite a bit of road noise as it’s on a relatively busy road, but maybe we notice it more as we live in a very rural location with no traffic and are not used to it. But would def stay again, thank you.

Great cottage

Communication from the owners is very good from the start and all way through. Very clean and comfortable. Large garden that's not overlooked. Few minutes into town.beds all comfortable. Only stayed 2 nights but still got welcome pack with wine . Can't find fault.

A perfect time away

Thank you Suzanne and John for a perfect stay. Very good pre-stay communication, directions and access to the cottage. Also for the provisions for breakfast - orange juice, tea/coffee, milk, bread and butter and a bottle of wine. We arrived on the day of the Queens funeral so this was very appreciated. Fantastic cottage

Had a lovely stay here for 2 nights despite the awful weather. The cottage was clean, homely and everything you need. Right down to brand new toothbrushes. Communication with the owners was fantastic. Only downfall for me was the noise of passing traffic. Although not terribly busy was still quite loud even of a night, I am a very light sleeper though Beautiful walks and short distance to beach.

Cozy, Welcoming - Great Hosts

We booked last minute to get out of the bustle of the city. Suzanne and John were really thoughtful in sharing that there was unexpected roadwork outside the cottage, giving us the opportunity to find another place to stay but we decided to go ahead and are so glad that we did. The cottage is comfortable and quaint with all the amenities you need to relax. The cottage is walking distance to local cafes, restaurants, and bars. It was great for a weekend away and exactly what we needed. Definitely on our list to revisit, thanks for having us!

Cosy cottage

Very pleasant and comfortable long weekend stay. Suzanne & John made us feel very much at home, meeting all our needs and very easy to contact. The cottage was clean, comfortable and well equipped, including a decent sized and well maintained garden. The 'goodies' there on our arrival were well appreciated. As stated in the listing, the road is fairly heavily used but the noise was not intrusive and S&J have arranged for very suitable nearby parking. We are already looking to return

Outstanding Cottage

This cottage was perfect. It was very clean. All the little extras that are included are very much appreciated and there was much more than we expected, even dog towels to dry your pet in case you don't have any. St Osyth is a lovely village, very peaceful and we found some good dog walks and is only a short drive to Clacton and Colchester. The garden is very secure as our dog is only little but there was nowhere for him to get out. The owners were very helpful and we hope to stay again.

Characterful cottage

Lovely cottage, super clean and everything you could imagine was provided. Kitchen was well equipped, and so was the bathroom with toiletries provided. Great that breakfast was provided too. Private garden with comfortable seating. Able to park outside for loading and unloading then moved to an off road car park just down the road. A great aqua sports centre is literally just down the road, we wished we had time for more, because there were so many activites we could have done there. The village is quite rural but great for the coast and inland too - we visited Flatford Mill in Constable Country and swam in the river Sowe.

Idyllic vacation in my favorite town

Our stay at the beautiful Wayside Cottage could not have been enjoyable. We spent two weeks there summer '22 after having to cancel in spring '20... and the wait was more than worth it! The owners were wonderful throughout and the property more than lives up to its online billing - compact (to be expected) and a treasure of a place with the amount of room, comfort, and obvious care inside. The location is great for all the family - idyllic St Osyth and its surroundings, the quayside next door, and the watersports down the hill - we had many great hours at all of these places this trip. Perfect, thank you!

Hi, I am John and my wife is Suzanne. We have lived in the Parish of St Osyth for 10 years now with our family and chocolate lab Hugo.
I grew up locally and have known St Osyth and Point Clear through my passions for sports, mainly on the water all my adult life. This includes Water skiing on Mill Dam lake back in the 80's and now Wakeboarding on the lake at the newly opened Curve Wakepark . Also windsurfing at Pointers and waterskiing/wakeboarding in the back waters of Brightlingsea on my own boats over the years. I am now trying out the kiteboarding at the local well known Martello Beach in Clacton On Sea ( I have all the gear but no idea YET !!) with help from the local instructors at Zenith kite board instructors
We both love regular local walks along the beach and back waters with Hugo and bike rides along the river Colne to Wivenhoe and the Rose and Crown Pub for a re-hydration and feed stop.
My youngest daughter has a passion for horse riding, so we find ourselves at the local Brook Farm Riding stables quite often.
In Winter I go to the alps for skiing when work permits, for a living I am a Plumber and Heating engineer and run my small company Aquaheat (east Anglia) Ltd.
Suzanne drove past Wayside Cottage and saw the 'For Sale' sign in front of the property. We viewed it and could see that with a lot of work it would be a perfect holiday let. We have very much enjoyed the journey renovating and furnishing the cottage and look forward to welcoming guests to our lovely part of Essex.
