Well, like for many of you, recommendations for us are the safest way to prevent nasty surprises when it comes to selecting a place for holidays as well as for shopping online etc.
Let me use two examples to illustrate our experience at Rickett.
There are many cottages or holiday flats which provide an inventory list on the kitchen table as the most outstanding sign of welcome, noting more or less politely that by contractual terms, which you have already agreed to, you will be held liable and are obliged to compensate any loss ……. and so on and so forth. So much for a warm welcome!
At Ricketts Cottage we did not find such a list. May be we were not diligent enough in our search or, and this more likely, this list would fill a whole file if it does exist. In simple words, the cottage is equipped as if the permanent resident had just cleaned up, changed the sheets and left for a short stroll.
We are a family of four, with two girls aged 4 and 11. With or without children this cottage is ideal. It is charming even with posh elements but it does not make you feel uneasy as a family, quite the opposite.
You might ask, is it all gushing? No, there are issues that come with the rural location for instance. We had a 7h black-out. While I enjoyed a chat with the technical repair team, my wife took it a bit more serious and noted their emergency number first thing. Put any worries aside, the entire power line coming up from the valley has been replaced.
For those of you, who sit there puzzled or bewildered, here is the short version: Rickett rocks!
