Fabulous Fall

We came to Murphy to visit family and relax. What we experienced was amazing. This cabin has mountain views that go on forever. The staff was great and although I was supposed to only be there for 4 days we called and were allowed to stay for 3 more. It had everything our family needed, Will be back soon :)

Great Mountain House

Excellent location in an upscale community. Great long range views from the ridge, 30 mi to farthest mountain range. Attractive house with lots of game mounts. Living room furniture ready for replacement, but overall, very comfortably arranged.

Awesome cabin

This cabin had a spectacular view and beautiful furnishings in bear and mountain motif. It was spacious and lots of windows to enjoy the breathtaking mountains view. We saw lots of deer and it was very clean. I would suggest taking a memory foam topper for the king bed as it helped make it very comfortable. I hope to stay again.

Perfect family retreat, great value, beautiful views, end of the road privacy

We rented Bear Bunker for a small family reunion and birthday celebration. Everything was neat, clean, and well supplied. It’s beautifully decorated with the Bear/rustic theme. There’s a king, queen, set of bunks, and a pair of singles allowing for plenty of sleeping space as well as two living areas. Decks give you plenty of outdoor space and views are fantastic.

It was okay

It was okay. I spent my honeymoon/familymoon here. It only has a tv in one room. My children were terrified of the decorations in the room. They decided to sleep in the living room. The lights kept going out and the AC didn’t work for the last 2 days and we left a day early. It just wasn’t a very good time.

Fulfilling Dad's Final Wishes

We had stayed here previously for a family vacation and my dad just loved everything about this cabin and the surrounding area. He had requested upon his departing of life, that his ashes be taken to the mountains and released and some home to Ohio. We wanted to honor this with a stay at his favorite vacation cabin and find a location to release his ashes. We accomplished this with the help of the property owner and Appalachian Land Company. It was wonderful and we kept our promise to him and it made an emotional family time a little more special to know that he would have been happy that we got to share in one of his special things. Thank you soo much for everything and all the help. We appreciate the special consideration for 1 night stay and the card provided was extra special. We will refer others and will definitely be looking for return for more special memories.

You Have No Idea What Awaits!!!!!

Where to begin? The pictures do it some justice but to experience it is the difference. First, Marianne the owner, is an absolute delight! You can tell the cabin is made available by her, with her own standards of what she would expect (which is so rare and incredibly appreciated!!!). It’s beyond well-appointed! You just won’t want to leave the home to visit all that the quaint town of Murphy offers. The views are JAW-DROPPING! We are avid cabin visitors, especially during the holidays and we have never had the view that this home offers. The drive up is amazing on the paved roads, too! So much beauty! Everything we needed to make meals with, we had and then some. There are grocery stores about 20 minutes away, as well as restaurants and shops. But again, you will not want to leave this home! We were visited each morning and afternoon, by a large herd of Deer, which was awesome if you aren’t used to seeing them. So cool! There is way more room in this cabin than our family of 4 knew what to do with, too! But our kids absolutely loved their stay. This Home and all that it offers, is well beyond compare! We cannot thank you enough and will absolutely rent from you again!!!! Your home made our Christmas all that much more amazing, Marianne!!! God Bless you!

Great cabin, but...

This cabin was absolutely beautiful! Pictures do not do the view justice!! We loved all the personal touches! I even mentioned we should have a friends weekend up there soon. With that being said, we will NEVER stay here again due to "Appalachian Land Company"! We checked in late which went smoothly receiving our keys in a lock box. However, the next morning when we went to use the restroom the water would not come on. Being a homeowner we completely understand that these things happen. So we called William, a contact listed on our welcome packet, who assured us that he would work on the issue, and call us back with an update. We waited an hour for him to call back, and finally we got on the phone and called him again just wanting an update. He sent us to voicemail 3 times, so we called the second number on the contact list. The second number went to the Secretary, who then transferred us to William. My husband asked for an update, explaining it was our last full day of our honeymoon. We wanted to get an idea if this was a quick fix, something that's happened before, or if we needed to look into other options for somewhere to use facilities. At this point William said he was very busy, and instructed us to knock on a neighbors door to have him help if we wanted to speed up the process. When my husband responded that he wasn't comfortable with that, and didn't feel like it was our place to be knocking on doors to get water working, William became defensive. He was extremely rude and argumentative stating we only gave him 15 minutes before calling back. At that point we felt displaced, not knowing when the issue would even be addressed, and respectfully asked if we could check out a day early. We packed up our things and straightened the cabin as expected. We dropped the keys off at "Appalachian Land Company" where we picked them up, and tried to speak to them in person. The only thing we wanted was to be reimbursed for the 2nd night we would not be staying. They explained to us that the owners would expect money for the second night so they couldn't do that, but they would speak to them, and follow up with us after getting a plumber out. I'm not surprised that we never heard from them again, and I'm writing this review in hopes that the owner will know the situation. Simply treating people right goes a long way. They not only took and kept our money for a service they did not provide, they also prevented us from ever wanted to do business again.

Listing is accurate, this cabin is great!

Nicer than expected. Lots of room inside and tons of outdoor deck space. Well furnished, very comfortable, and the views are incredible! Check in was fine; not much to say about it. Had to find a way to kill time after arriving earlier than expected as there is absolutely no exception to the NO early check in rule despite the cabin not having been rented for the previous several days leading up. This is clearly posted in the listing so it’s not a complaint, just a bit disappointed not even an hour could be offered. A 3p check in is usual and customary. Neighborhood is very nice; gated, and well kept. Was bit surprised to see the cabins are very, very close together; not secluded. This can has expansive mostly private views on the back side however, so the neighbors are not noticeable unless maybe there is lots of movement/activity to hear them. No one was around when we were there however (mid Nov). Overall this cabin is well worth it and we will definitely be back!

Lovely Cabin

Bear Bunker Lodge was a delightful place to stay. The views were unbeatable! We wish there had been a lock box instead of having to pick up and drop off the key at the office, and the mattresses could (really) use updating. But overall, we had a great time and would stay again. The after hours gentleman was very helpful and kind, as were the office staff.

And the neighbors are very friendly. The Cabin is just as described, if not better. My daughter and I had a fantastic time visiting surrounding areas and returning to this wonderful cabin was the topping on our vacation. We both agree that we would like to stay in this cabin abain!

Top of the World

Property is secluded at the top of a mountain with breathtaking views on both sides - east and west, providing beautiful sunrise and sunsets. Interior is very well maintained, spacious and decorated to provide mountain lodge atmosphere. We will be back!

Perfect get away

The cabin is extremely nice. We had everything we needed for our 3 night stay. Kitchen is well stocked with dishes and etc. The view is amazing even though we couldn’t see thru the fog. Would have been nice if the fireplace worked. It turned cold and wet and we stayed and enjoyed the quiet and the cabin to its fullest. We hope to back one day! The drive up was narrow and winding. Us Florida people are used to flat long straight roads. But it wasn’t that bad. We were anxious to come off the mountain when a freeze became a possibility. Would be great for a family reunion. There is plenty of space for several people and a great man cave downstairs!

Best View in Murphy

I love this property! It has become our home away from home and we now come annually. This home has a spacious floor plan with plenty of room for everyone. The wrap-around porch is my favorite place. I can sit staring at the gorgeous views of the mountains all day! And lots of wildlife to be seen in this area. Located in a gated community the neighbors are super friendly. I hate to give this property such a glowing review for fear that others will discover my most favorite place! I cannot wait to go back!

Breathtaking!

We just left to head home and we are so sad to go. This cabin was beyond our expectations! We picked this cabin for the views we saw in the photos and let me tell you, in person was even better. The cabin was extremely clean and comfortable. The neighborhood was beautiful and always had deer roaming around. I had no complaints about our stay at all!
