Disappointed Guests
Property and apartment was very nice, new, and updated. Highly disappointed with our first VRBO guest experience. After an 8 hour drive we arrived to Triton Cay where we had booked our apartment for the week. My husband and I with our 3 young children went up to the apartment door put in the check-in code provided, open the door and to our shock there were people staying in our apartment. The fireplace was going and food trash was on the counters and we could hear them in the bedroom. We slowly backed out closed the door and I sent the listing manager a message asking him to call me immediately, that there were people in the apartment. An hour went by with no response from the listing property owner as we sat in a sitting area in the front of the lobby. This is an apartment complex so there is not front desk staff. Needless to say we were quite frazzled as to what to do. I called VRBO customer support and they contacted the owner and 3-way called him. He apologized and said he he had missed a message from one of his associates earlier that the guest in our apartment refused to leave earlier that day. He said it was too late in the evening to deal with it and that he was located 4 hours away. He did say he manage 50 apartments within the complex and he would get us in one of those for the night but they would not be ocean front as we had booked.
