The Brookman: Renovated 6000 SF Estate On 40 Acres
Summary:
Previously owned by one of Hollywood’s most iconic actors, this 6,000 SF estate sits on 40 secluded acres with stunning views of Massachusetts’s tallest mountain. The property includes a farm-to-table herb and vegetable garden, sculpture walk, pond, orchard, fire pit, 13’ foot dining table & more. In addition, the property is surrounded by the 2,000+ acre Taconic Trail State Park, featured in National Geographics’ “100 Hikes of a Lifetime”, perfect for hiking, cross country skiing & snowshoeing.
The Space:
Main Living Spaces
At the heart of the home, the main living room boasts a two-story ceiling, illuminated by a clerestory window and fireplace as well as an adjacent sitting room graced by a piano. A modern glass-railed catwalk, suspended above, effortlessly connects the primary guest suite to the second-story guest bedrooms, offering a unique architectural flair. A second spacious living room offers multiple seating options as well as an additional fireplace. Hardwood floors complemented by plush wool and silk rugs exist throughout while walls of glass sliding doors overlook the expansive mahogany deck vistas beyond.
Kitchen and Dining
The well-appointed open kitchen includes stainless steel appliances, a flat cooktop, and in-cabinet double ovens, including a plethora of cooking and serving items ensuring culinary needs are met. It also features counter seating for two, an eat-in breakfast nook that accommodates six, and additional bench seating positioned by picturesque views of the mountainside. Adjacent to the kitchen, the formal dining area offers seating for up to twenty guests at a 13’ family style custom table by artist Kamil Peters and surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows. In between the kitchen and dining area is an additional outdoor deck with seating and a gas grill.
Entertainment
The expansive library/game room emerges as a hub for entertainment and relaxation. Not only does it boast a 90" WIFI-enabled TV for streaming from platforms such as Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime, but is also adorned with custom built-in bookshelves. An abundance of seating options, including a sectional sofa and plush chairs, invites guests to settle in and unwind in comfort. This space, with its foosball table and collection of board games, is perfect for both spirited entertainment and leisurely reading. Descending to the basement guests will find ping pong and pool tables as well as a selection of exercise equipment.
Accommodations
Guests are well-accommodated with seven bedrooms, five full bathrooms, and two half baths.
Adjacent to the main living room is a uniquely designed suite boasting a spacious living area that effortlessly converts into a bedroom, fitted with a Queen Pull-out bed and an additional twin pull-out bed. In addition, an office space also serves as an extra sleeping quarter, equipped with two twin pull-out beds. Each room in this suite opens onto the deck through sliding glass doors, offering uninterrupted and breathtaking views. They all share access to a marble master bath featuring a walk-in rain shower.
