Wanda was the perfect host ! The cozy view has the best views and the access to public transportation is right at the end of her driveway. Apartment was perfect for two... and the veranda was the spot for coffee every morning. We will definitely be back to stay !
This was our first trip to Bermuda, and it's really a beautiful place. Wanda was incredibly nice the whole time, and made us feel very welcome! Her apartment has a great view, and the private beach right down the hill was a huge plus. We spent our mornings on the little balcony enjoying our coffee and breakfast. Be advised that the balcony is right above her neighbor's back yard, and on one occasion they were blasting music with all the doors and windows wide open. The apartment itself is fine, very basic. The bed is particularly comfortable and large. We wished the kitchen was a little more well-stocked, especially since there is really only one restaurant (Henry VIII) within walking distance. Definitely stop at the market on the way from the airport, as there's nothing to buy in the neighborhood. There's only one outlet in the kitchen, so you can only run one appliance at a time (microwave, toaster or coffee maker). Several things kept needing attention (screen door completely stuck shut, fuses tripping) but Wanda did her best to help us straight away and was very helpful with everything we asked for. Something to keep in mind - the apartment is connected to her mother's apartment by just a thin door. Her mother is extremely sweet! But we were woken up most mornings by the sound of her phone ringing, and definitely felt a limited sense of privacy. Wanda was very helpful with instructions for accessing the other local beaches which are really nice, and made herself available for anything we needed help with. Overall it was a relaxing and low-key 5 days, and we're happy we got to know Bermuda a little bit!
We had a nice time celebrating our 25th anniversary here. Our host, Wanda, along with her mom, were very helpful and accommodating. We were met at the airport by Stewart and his cab who also returned us back to the airport at the end of our trip. This was all set up by Wanda. No worries! The studio apartment had plenty of room for the two of us. Just a short 5 min. walk down to a beautiful private beach that was good for snorkeling. There are numerous other beaches a short scooter ride away. The bus stop is right at the end of the driveway. There were a handful of restaurants within walking distance. We particularly enjoyed Island Cuisine Restaurant on Middle Rd. Though it was not quite walking distance, it was popular with the locals and for good reason. The food was great! Casual and less expensive than some of the others. We rented a scooter and travelled about the island. Traffic was not too bad since it was late September. The location was convenient. I would definitely stay here again.
This was our second stay at Wanda's wonderful apartment, & we hope to be staying there again next year. The apartment is clean, cozy & comfortable. On our last trip, we spent some time traveling around the island; this time we spent all our days at the local beaches - there are several within walking distance - & ate at the four restaurants that are also within walking distance. There are bus stops going in either direction right at the bottom of the driveway if you do wish to head out. Wanda (and her Mother) are very accommodating hosts. Our plane arrived quite early on this trip, & we were able to drop off our luggage and have a nice lunch at Henry The VIII (a very nice restaurant with a small convenience store next door that is a 5 minute walk away) while they got the apartment ready. They checked with us regularly to make sure we had everything we needed ,& also made sure we had plenty of beach towels! All in all it was another great experience for us & we would highly recommend staying here.
My wife and I had a wonderful honeymoon trip to Bermuda and really enjoyed our stay at Acozy View. When we arrived, the place was clean and the air conditioning running. Kitchen has mini fridge, 2 burner stove, microwave, toaster, and some tableware. We were provided with towels and Wanda's mother provided us fresh ones upon request.
We lost our keys (scooter key included) just before sunset one evening and could not find them. Wanda was a simple phone call away with the spare room key. The next morning right after sunset, Wanda called and had found them along the trail coming from the beach! (What a relief!)
Location was great. Within 5-10 minute ride of most popular south shore beaches. Bus stops are at the bottom of the driveway which is very convenient for any rainy days.
If we go back I would definitely stay here again.
Location, Location, Location! If you are traveling to Bermuda to experience the beaches, this is an excellent location. My husband and I rented a scooter and visited all of the beaches and Southampton wins the "gorgeous beach" award! We had one day of serious rain during our 10 day stay, but continued to enjoy the amazing ocean view from our bedroom. Wanda and her family are amazing and truly care that you enjoy your stay and were always available to give us tips on making the most of our vacation. My priorities in booking were location to beach and comfort. We were steps away from a private beach that is one of the prettiest on the island. Wanda provided us with an umbrella and beach chairs during our visit. As we explored the island, we often couldn't wait to get back "home" to our private paradise! There is a bus stop steps from the unit and we used the bus system to visit the Dockyard and ferry over to St. George and Hamilton (a public ferry leaves the Dockyard to both of these locations and your bus pass gives you access). We were very close to a market and a couple of mornings we enjoyed grabbing muffins and coffee from the bakery to have a morning picnic overlooking the ocean (there are many great locations with picnic tables). We also got takeout from Wok Express (near market) several times to enjoy the sunset. Of course, there are also great restaurants nearby to enjoy as well. This unit was just as described and equipped with reliable air conditioning, comfy bed, large screen TV, and GREAT WIFI. Before leaving the US, we spent the night before our flight in a hotel. We had much faster and more reliable WIFI service in Bermuda. I would recommend getting a scooter, but use good judgement. We used the bus at night and for longer excursions. But, the scooter allowed us to beach hop and pick up food conveniently. I would also advise taking nice cover ups for swim suits. All of the establishments want customers to look nice and most post "no swim suit" signs. The island has a very polished culture and we were very conscience of this in riding the scooter as well. Great trip, great island, great people, and a great location!
