Almost four miles down the mountain and you can take in a play at Lees-McRae College in Banner Elk. Drive 27 miles and you can be at Linville Gorge, Grandfather Mountain, Blowing Rock, or Boone. The home is within walking distance of restaurants and convenience stores. In the winter, there is a free sledding hill for the kids and a brand-new playground. At the Emerald Outback, located nearby, you can access hiking trails and mountain biking. There are local festivals all season long including the famous Mile High Kite Festival.
