We're in a quiet and laid-back neighborhood, perfect for soaking in the sun and boat-watching from the porch during the day if you're staying home, and we're central to everything in the region if you're getting out. The best part is that special feeling of daybreak and sunset over the river, when it's the most peaceful and quiet moments you can imagine.
It's an easy walk from your front door to great Florida restaurants like Swampy's (6 blocks), to fun Florida bars like Fired-Up Saloon (3 blocks), and to excellent homemade donuts at Go For Donuts (2 blocks). We're a little longer of a walk, or an easy bike ride to Dunnellon's Boomtown Days historic area, with the region's best antique and craft shops.
A short drive gets you to Publix and Walmart for supplies, and Dunnellon, as small a town as it is, has all the quick eats and fast foods you may need. Heather and I still recall when that McDonalds came to town in the 80s and what a big deal it was for us kids back then, but now there's also KFC, Hardees, Sonic, Dunkin, Subway, Pizza Hut, and more.
From our place it's an easy and quick trip to everything the region has to offer: Ocala Equestrian Center, hiking and trails, world-famous diving at Devil's Den, camping and hiking at Ocala National Forest, glass-bottom boats at Silver Springs, swim with the manatees or taking a fishing charter out of Kings Bay in Crystal River, visit the Homosassa state park and manatee observatory, the boat launch on the Gulf of Mexico in Yankeetown is also where Elvis's movie Follow That Dream was filmed, Rainbow Springs itself is a 5-minute drive ... everything's about a half an hour or less to drive.
We're about an hour and a half from Tampa International Airport and Orlando International Airport, and about 45 minutes from Gainesville Regional Airport, and about a half hour from the Belleview exit of I-75.
