Exceeded All Expectations
My first impression, upon entering the house and seeing a welcome note from the host next to a bottle of wine on the dining table, was Wow! That impression was reinforced by comfortable, attractive furnishings and bedding, good quality appliances, and numerous discoveries throughout our stay that underscored the host's thoughtful anticipation of possible needs of guests, including child-safe insect repellent, and a fully stocked kitchen, with a variety of condiments, herbs, and spices, an array of kitchen knives, an ample supply of aluminum foil, plastic wrap, ziplock bags, and plastic containers for storing leftovers, and all the needed utensils for a lobster dinner.
With Popham Beach just a 10-minute drive away and with the narrow dirt roadways around Sebasco Estates and the golf course of the Sebasco Harbor Resort providing plenty of opportunities for walks, this peaceful woodland setting is ideal.
After spending much of the day at the beach on our first day, late in the afternoon we took a walk with our grandson down to the cove that reaches into Sebasco Estates. The tide was out. Finding a couple clams there, taking them back to the house, and steaming them so our grandson could have his first taste of clams became an unexpected highlight of his Maine vacation. He insisted on going back to the cove the next day to hunt for more clams.
