This home is wonderfully secluded in the small town of Gilchrist on the Bolivar Peninsula, across the highway, and within walking distance from the beach. You can easily discover everything this area offers, including local restaurants and shops, the Smith Oaks Sanctuary for some birdwatching, and the community of Crystal Beach 10 miles west. Fun Spot Water Slide is a short drive away, offering amusement for the whole family. Galveston Island makes a great day trip, where you can check out the newest exhibits at Moody Gardens before flying down the water slides at the Schlitterbahn Waterpark.

You'll never want to leave as soon as you enter this beautiful home. Enjoy plenty of indoor and outdoor space for everyone to spread out, large bedrooms with plush beds that ensure a great night's sleep, and a full kitchen where you can prepare your favorite home-cooked meals

You cant imagine how BAD!!!!

We booked this house for labor day a found this location, which was actually a GREAT location! The house on the other hand was a disaster.....we had broken pipes flooding the downstairs, and dumping water all over our stuff!!! Toilets not working, roof leaking and not lights downstairs or down the stair case.....literally a safety hazard!! Upon arrival it looked like a construction site with construction debris around the down stairs and dirt surrounding. If you risk staying at this rental you better bring kitchen utensils. The layout of the house was great and the furniture had a western feel.....the problem was that the sliding doors did not slide, lights did not work, there is a major bug problem in the laundry room, the deck has speratic nails sticking up, construction debris around the house and honestly this house was not ready to have guest rent it and pay what it cost. I can assure you that the management company would come after a renter if the property was left the way we walked in. We contacted the management company (Vacasa) all weekend!!! They acted like they had never seen the property and were surprised about our findings....that told me they had never been to the rental. I am actually engaged with legal counsel for a partial refund and this house does not meet the minimum standard. Let me know if you want pictures if you doubt my review. Vacasa and VRBO should do better for their rental customers.

Great Location but the Home is lacking

The location is GREAT!! We absolutely loved the proximity to both the bay and the beach! Got to watch dolphins swim one morning on the bay side, that was a treat! And there was hardly anyone at the beach, so we practically had it to ourselves! The house overall was pretty accommodating, loved all the decks! But there were some basic functions, like doors not closing, bed sheets not available, lack of towel racks in the bathrooms, water pressure, etc that put a damper on the stay. If these things could be fixed, it would be an amazing stay!

Perfect!

This house was exactly what we needed. Just enough rooms for all the adults and we were able to sleep all the kids on the top floor. It’s far enough into Caplen that we could avoid the zoo but close enough that a trip to the big store was still a quick shot. The huge yard was also great considering how close houses are to each other in CB now. We will be coming back soon!

Great location

Emerald Sunset was a great house with a great location for beautiful sunsets and beach access. The organization of the kitchen was poor but functional. We also ran completely out of toilet paper. Comfortable sleeping a accommodations. .

Amazing view

This is a perfect location for a peaceful getaway. The view is amazing from every floor in the house and the porch swings was very nice touch. Just make sure you bring a few young people with you, the kitchen is on the top floor, so you have 3 flights of stairs to tore groceries! Definitely will book again!

Fantastic place

We loved our stay at Emerald Sunset. The place is in a great location and is in impecable condition. Beautiful sunsets from the many balcony decks and is very private. Conveniently located to the many restaurants on bolivar with beach access directly across the street . Highly recommended

Fabulous Vacation Home!

This is our family’s go-to summer vacation beach getaway. This year we were so surprised at ALL the upgrades! The outdoor bars, swings on patio, outdoor TV’s. The whole house received a makeover with the fresh paint job, new oven and so much more. We slept 5 families with their babies comfortably. The sunsets on the porch are always so beautiful. The beach right across the street is perfect! I love the location as the beaches are not crowded and the restaurants and grocery stores are a short drive up the road. Definitely try Stingaree Restaurant! We already can’t wait to go back!!

Happy place

It was ok

We enjoyed our stay. It was comfortable and the view was lovely. - We did have a few issues with the wifi. The first day we only had wifi a couple of hours, after the storm we didn’t have wifi at all for the whole remainder of the stay. It was understandable but still a let down since we weren’t able to use the televisions even when we were stuck indoors due to the rain. - The floors were dirty and dusty, and there were maggots all in the windowsills. We were told the house was being thoroughly cleaned which is why we had to wait til 4pm to get in that day, but when we showed up there were even bottles under the couches. A few more things regarding cleanliness but aside from that we were thankful to the customer service reps., and we spoke to Mason who was a big help. We have booked before with Vacasa and staff is always so helpful. We hope our comments help better future services. We loved the house and would genuinely like to come back again, but would like to see a few more changes. Thank you all!!

Calling All Thrill Seekers!

Do you love a good adventure? Does living on the edge give you thrills? This is the house for you!! From rusty nails and missing railing on the second and third floor decks, to loose tiles and leaks pouring through ceilings- this house will keep you on your toes! And if that isn’t enough danger for you- wait! There is also mold and mildew everywhere! Still not sold?? This house also offers roaches and used feminine hygiene products from previous renters laying on the floor! I know what you are thinking, “this sounds too good to be true!” We couldn’t believe it either! And some added thrill seeking bonuses: spotty internet, missing lightbulbs and outlets that don’t work! If you love sand as much as us, you will love the lack of broom and other basic cleaning supplies! And nothing says “outdoor shower” better than a hose bib that reaches approximately the bellybutton of your average 8 year old! Planning on cooking? Be prepared for some of the biggest thrills of your whole vacation! This house comes equipped with food caked dishes, bowls full of debris and bugs, and dull knives. Not a single potholder either- just imagine the rush of pulling a roast out of that oven! When you get ready to wash your clothes, one thing you should know is the dryer is decorative only. But fear not! You can hang your laundry on one of those rusty nails to dry them in the coastal breeze! If none of this sounds adventurous enough for you, give them a call or text (or both)! Nothing keeps you on the edge of your seat more than waiting for a return call that never comes!

Memorial Weekend

The dryer had no ON knob, so it did not work nor did the jetted tub in the master bath, .there was a condom wrapper by the night stand in the loft and hairs on the bed when we got there and there was a wad of toilet paper in the master toilet that was to big to flush and many lightbulbs throughout the house didn’t work..

Great get away

Great experience, maintenance came quickly on a water issue and it was fixed. Great views, further from the beach than I thought, but it is still close. Recommend bringing additional cooking utensils if you plan to cook a lot.

Plumbing problems

The first night there was ok but the lightning outside didn't work...it was really dark going down the stairs. Second night toilet back up. The next day plumbing went crazy. Keep looking!

A lot of up and downs

poor lighting, stairs shaky , the fridge not in good shape. The best part was that it was close to the beach. And the whirlpool tub not working. It does have nice outside grill and table. My grandma came and was very hard for her to go up and down the stairs she ended up sleeping on the couch.

The pictures make this s cabin look great. In actuality it's not clean and needs lots of repairs. I was very excited to see this property but I was disappointed. The elevator for luggage almost cut me in half. We talked to property management. They never sent anyone to disable are put signs showing the danger. All they could do is try to play it off that it was my fault. I will never recommend Vacasa to anyone. I hate to write a bad review but it's needed. With a little work it could be great. And hire a new cleaning service cause they do a horrible job.

Loved it!

We had a wonderful time at Emerald Sunset! Can't wait to return! Beautiful home, very spacious. Amazing views of ocean, along with the bay's gorgeous sunsets! Very nicely furnished, with all the amenities. Secluded feeling which is an extra bonus and plenty of parking. I highly recommend Emerald Sunset!
