Relaxing and beautiful! Paradise found...
The long period of almost a year has not in the least lessened, the winter even intensified our memories of the beautiful holidays which we – a six adult persons’ family with two boys at the age of 10 and a small dog – spent last August (16th to 23rd) at Villa Cerqualto in Umbria, Italy.
The location: the villa is marvellously situated up a hilly range. To get there you find your way through fields and woods, following the excellent instructions of the landlady. The winding road and its serpentines is part of the adventure and at the end of the journey the traveller is rewarded with a spectacular far reaching view of the Apennine mountains in great distance and with the silhouette of the inviting nearby Città della Pieve.
The Villa: you can relish the views as well as the close surrounding when sitting in a deck chair on the loans and flowery slopes, next to bunches of wine grapes and to fruit trees: A bit further down the garden hill, there is a well kept swimming pool, ready for sporty activities or for just a refreshing bath.
Villa Cerqualto itself is built on a gentle slope, with the main entrance into a large kitchen at ground floor, a maisonette underneath – separate entrance from the lower slope side. The Villa houses large comfortable bedrooms with conveniently separate bathrooms, and one of them with a large Loggia.
The landlady is a wonderfully caring, attentive and considered landlady, who creates a warm hearted, relaxed ambience. The Villa is excellently looked after, the details are well organised. Stephanie might pay you – having breakfast at the pergola opposite the house – a short visit to find out about your wellbeing and your plans for the day, to offer her generous help – when needed - , to make very useful suggestions and give hints (not found in traveller guide books) for nearby and far distance enterprises. Thanks to that, we were able to explore wonderful places – restaurants, cities, panorama views – with a charming typically Italian atmosphere and not at all touristic.
At your departure from this unique and remarkable resort, you hope for an “Auf Wiedersehen” – until then you suffer from a “Paradise lost”.
