The Mediaval Buckden Towers
There’s also a stunning church and, in the centre of the village, the magnificent Buckden Towers, a medieval fortified house and bishop’s palace that’s now used as a conference centre.
The village has its own marina and easy access to a stretch of the glorious River Great Ouse
Best kept secret
A certain queen would probably argue that Buckden was once the worst place to live – Katherine of Aragon was imprisoned in Buckden Towers after her divorce from Henry VIII. Other royals had happier memories, with everyone from Henry III to James I having been entertained in the palace.
Transport
-Easy striking distance of Cambridge, Peterborough and Bedford for business and Burghley House/Horse Trials, Duxford Imperial War Museum, National Trust properties and a 6-minute drive from Grafham Water Sailing Club for pleasure
Commute
-There’s no train station in Buckden so zip over to nearby St Neots for direct trains into London (55mins). Driving into Cambridge is much more enjoyable with the new stretch of A14 finished and will take you half an hour.
The whole house is yours to enjoy.
I leave you in peace but am available if needed
