The town is located on the site of an old Roman road and is known for its 19th century St. Kentigern church. Lying just 5 miles from the coast and on the edge of the Lake District National Park, Aspatria is a superb base for discovering the Cumbrian countryside. It has a railway station and a number of shops and pubs. Just a few miles to the north is the market town of Wigton which still holds a market each Tuesday in the covered market hall. Wigton is a popular centre for shopping, pubs and restaurants, and also boasts a theatre, bowls, swimming, tennis and other sports. The port town of Silloth is just a few miles away and has a wide range of amenities. Aspatria is a wonderful location for a memorable Cumbrian holiday.
