Charming Stay
We had a wonderful 3-night stay in Casa da Forxa as two married couples wanting to enjoy the countryside instead of city life. We embraced the sublime village of Recelle, where we stayed and got a lot of nice photography we will cherish. We were unable to meet hosts Manuel and Libby Rodrigues due to scheduling conflicts, but they were quick to respond to all our questions by phone. You know you're in a remote farming area when the directions to find the stay include "turn right after you see cows in the field on the left." This was a perfect location to spend separate days exploring the province of Galicia: Playa de Catedrales (Cathedral Beach) with its breathtaking emerald green waters and shocking white crashing waves, the completely Roman wall-encircled Lugo, and Santiago de Compostela famous for its cathedral where the 9th century Way of Saint James pilgrimage camino (road) concludes after starting in France over 700 kilometers away. I must admit it was difficult to find the stay since we arrived at night and no sign for "Casa da Forxa was at the righthand turn on a narrow road after the cows (and the cows were already in bed for the night). I was finally able to find a little sign for "Casa da Forxa" nailed to a fencepost or rail after walking down a ways from the righthand turn using the smartphone light. The frustration quickly dissipated once settled in this beautiful stone-walled a half-timbered interior with modern amenities. God bless Manuel and Libby!
