This property currently falls far short of meeting its description. Our initial impression was positive as Geoff was very open to early access and even helped carry our luggage up the several flights of stairs. There are at least a dozen apartments, and the overall area was clean but it is a current renovation site. The unit certainly doesn’t earn the descriptor “luxury” and was severely lacking in some of the basic amenities advertised. There was no washing up liquid, no soap of any kind, no tea towel/paper towel, no drinking glasses, no oven mitt, ½ roll of toilet paper in each bathroom, etc. I reached out to Geoff about some of these things and he said he’d have them delivered the next morning. Nothing ever arrived so we bought our own. Also noted, several of the very limited supply of dishes were put away with traces of food still on them and in one case, solidified “something” in a coffee mug. The apartment sleeps 4. There were 4 dinner plates, 4 cereal bowls, 4 coffee mugs, 4 fork/knife/spoon, a saucepan and a skillet. That’s it. A quick trip to IKEA seems in order…..
Of safety concern, all the smoke detectors (both inside the unit and in the common areas) had dust covers on them. There were zero written instructions about anything in the unit or emergency steps. We had no hot water at one point and I was able to reach Geoff who instructed me on how to fix this. How nice it would be to have a manual in the unit that allows the guests to be independent during their stay.
One of our group is a Premier Host in Canada and she was stymied about some of the most basic things that were not addressed. Our sense is that this place has potential but issues, too numerous to fully list here, need to be better managed. We were quite disappointed. At this point, it does not meet the standards of other VRBO units we’ve rented.
