Our visit started by driving up to the house with a view of an overflowing trash can in the front yard and birds ripping garbage bags to shreds. It went down-hill from there.
Once entering the property we realized that none of the bedrooms were cleaned and all linens and towels were dirty.
After going back and forth with the owner (he did respond quickly which is what makes this rating 2 stars instead of 1) we started stripping beds, washing bedding and towels ourselves. After 4.5 hours, he was finally able to find a housekeeper to show up and clean bathrooms, etc. The house cleaner arrived at 8:30 pm on a Friday night and at 11:00 pm we told her she could leave even though she had not finished cleaning.
The kitchen was barely stocked with glassware and dishes. We ended up buying paper plates and plastic utensils to make it through the 2 nights we stayed there.
Owner was very apologetic and said we would get the cleaning fee (since we basically cleaned the place ourselves) and first night refunded. We received the cleaning fee only and subsequent texts have gone unanswered for the 1 night credit.
This house has great space but stains on carpets and general upkeep make it very difficult to want to spend time there.
As we were leaving, the trash had still not been picked up from previous renters and we, unfortunately, had to add 3 bags of our on to the pile. The neighbors must happy to have this short term rental in the neighborhood.
