Between the Fairgrounds and the Marigny, you’ll find the Seventh Ward neighborhood in New Orleans. It’s long been a working-class neighborhood and while it may not have the same sexy reputation as Treme, which is right next door, that’s only because it didn’t get a television show named after it. What the Seventh Ward can definitely boast about, though, is that it’s the home of St. Augustine High School. If you’re new to the city, you’ll quickly learn about the Marching 100 – it doesn’t matter what part of town you’re from, everyone loves this band!
The tree-lined streets are filled with narrow lots that contain a mix of new(er) construction and homes that are over 100 years old. Camelbacks, raised Creole cottages, shotguns…you’ll find every bit of the traditional architecture that you think of when you think of New Orleans.
If beige is your favorite hue, this may not be the neighborhood for you. Plenty of homeowners here have chosen some of the most vibrant and Caribbean influenced house colors around.
I love the old architecture: the box steps, shutters, gingerbread and lots of doubles. Pretty trees that often make canopies from one side of the street to the other. Lots of places to get really good food, like seafood and gumbo. And you’re just 15 minutes from everywhere! Gentilly, Metairie, Uptown, the East, the West Bank, and Arabi are all a quick ride.

– If you are bringing a car. There is ample street parking in front of the home.

-- This is a strict non-smoking house.
-- No animals at all, please. We love them, but not for this house.
-- We love our neighbors, and try never to impede on their right to a quiet home. Please quiet down by 9pm on the weekdays and 10pm on the weekends. This is especially important when using the outdoor spaces!
-- Due to back-to-back guests, we’re sorry, but we can not accommodate early check-ins nor late check outs.
-- Please take all perishable items with you. They beckon bugs and critters!

-- Upon departure, please take the trash out to the master bins. Please also make sure the house is in good order: dishes washed etc. We will take care of everything else! Failure to leave the house in good order will result in an Airbnb investigation and additional fines.

-- No guest-packages are to be delivered to the house. If you have a package delivered anyway, please note we are not responsible for the security of your package, nor are we available to help you track it down. Amazon Locker is a great way to have packages safely delivered!

I’d stay there again
Overall it was a very comfortable stay. The beds were good with clean linens. Comfortable couch. Good kitchen with all the implements we needed. Clean showers with good water pressure and clean towels. The floors in the house were pretty grimy, though. I’m usually a barefoot girl, but I wore socks the whole stay, which was a bummer. It was walking distance from the French Quarter, which was nice, but also meant it wasn’t the best neighborhood. We didn’t have any issues, though. It could be a little loud at night, but both rooms had white noise machines. It was also very bright at night, even with the curtains closed. I was glad I’d brought a mask to sleep in. All said, I’d stay there again.
