Yikes…

Run away from this property. I didn’t last an hour. First, it’s in an unkept “backyard” with a door knob that doesn’t work. Plus the area is known for being dangerous. No bed. Bathroom is not the one pictured. Hole in the wall plugged with toilet paper. Loose wall fixtures in the bathroom. Constant smoke detector sound, but no smoke detector to be found. Save yourself the time and find another place to stay. Im rarely the guy to leave a bad review but unfortunately this deserves it.

Gut: Check-in, Kommunikation, Lage und Genauigkeit des Onlineauftritts

Okay To Sleep There

My title encapsulates how this Vrbo stay was. We arrived in the afternoon and checkin was easy. I felt safe in the neighborhood. The unit is actually a basement unit. I discovered that the doorknob is actually just for show—it doesn’t turn the lock at all. The only security in the door was the digital lock. This didn’t make me feel unsafe, but it did raise some eyebrows. The door post had supports for what I assumed was a wooden plank on either side of it to assist in barring the door, but there was no wooden plank in the unit, and instead there were two red bricks that I’m assuming were supposed to be put in front of the door to help keep it closed (that’s what we used them for, at least). The unit itself was clean, spacious & more or less looked like the listing. But there were some issues with it that I noticed: be advised: this unit provides NO TOILETRIES. Bring your own EVERYTHING. The shower had NO curtain OR shower rod. There was only one small trash can located in the bathroom for the entire unit. The kitchen had minimal kitchenware (x2 of everything). The sink had recently had a minor leak, there was only a tabletop burner, and nowhere to dry dishes. There were no curtains or blinds in the entire unit, minus one small window, despite having big windows throughout. The lights outside were shining brightly into the unit all night. The AC worked great and provided great white noise, which was welcomed, as we could hear the upstairs neighbors clearly when they moved, spoke, or played music. Keep the AC on, it gets warm in there quickly otherwise. The closet had no lightbulb in it, there was an ironing board but no iron, there were no hangers in the closet, the towels in the bathroom showed signs of wear, and the blanket provided was thinner & didn’t give much warmth—there were no additional blankets in the unit. Speaking of which, the bed (a futon) was already prepared for us, which I appreciated. HOWEVER, double check and make sure your linens are fresh, as I found stains on one pillowcase and a (facial?) hair on another pillowcase. Overall, we paid two hundred dollars for one night, & I don’t feel we received a good value for that price. It did serve its purpose in that we only needed a place to crash, but being able to shower would have been nice. I considered asking the host for assistance, but since it was only for one night, I decided against it. Hopefully, as this ages, things will be better for the next tenant!
