Come and uncover two charming barn conversions at Kings Mill Barns near the coastal hamlet of Castlemartin within Pembrokeshire, Teasel and Meadowsweet are nestled within the idyllic landscape of Kings Mill, a place steeped in history and heritage, these thoughtfully restored two-bedroom retreats radiate character, offering a unique blend of rustic charm and modern comfort.
King’s Mill, a Grade II listed 18th-century water mill, is your neighbour—a mere stone’s throw from the world-renowned Freshwater West Beach. This historic site has a storied past, dating back to the 1500s when the first mill was established. Monks and millers have graced this land with their presence over generations. However, in 1910, the waterwheel ceased its rhythmic turn, and the mill’s gears fell silent, leaving behind a fading legacy. Since 2016, a dedicated team has embarked on a journey of meticulous restoration, breathing new life into these forgotten structures. Although this endeavour is a lifelong commitment, you are cordially invited to be a part of this remarkable transformation by choosing to stay here.
As you step into these barn conversions, you’ll immediately sense their distinctive character, the interiors are adorned with exposed beams, vaulted ceilings and stone floors. A bespoke staircase leads you to the mezzanine level, where a cosy twin bedroom awaits, adding a touch of whimsy to your stay. The open plan kitchen, diner and living room is perfect for cosy evenings in and leads out onto your lawned garden perfect for dining al fresco and taking in the fresh coastal air. Amidst 16 acres of unspoiled terrain, we’ve embraced the ethos of preserving the wilderness. Vast swathes of native deciduous woodland have been meticulously planted, and millions of native wildflower seeds have been sown. The result? An abundance of rare flora and fauna that we hold dear. Our aim is to safeguard this precious environment for the enjoyment of future generations.
At Kings Mill Barns, you won’t find manicured lawns or paved roads. Instead, prepare to be enchanted by open spaces, where thistles and thorns thrive alongside the gentle hum of bees and the skittering of bugs. Here, you’ll experience a profound connection with the natural world, a genuine escape back to nature. We welcome you to explore our ancient woodland, providing you with your own slice of untamed Pembrokeshire—a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the wild beauty of this captivating landscape. Kings Mill also has a stunning eco campsite on the property and there is a little shop on the premises during the summer months that sells a range of local produce.
The Pembrokeshire National Park is home to the Castlemartin Military Range.
