With two double bedrooms and one twin room, the property sleeps six people comfortably and offers lots of living space so you can spend your holiday relaxing at the property as well as enjoying the nearby beaches and countryside. Set over two floors, downstairs you will find a fully equipped kitchen complete with a dining table. There’s also a lounge with a comfy seating, feature log burner (not in use) and TV. A twin bedroom and double bedroom are also located downstairs, along with the family bathroom. Meanwhile, upstairs you will find the master bedroom, as well as another bathroom complete with a bath, basin and WC.

Time spent outdoors is a key part of a holiday in the Hope Cove, so the garden at Sunnyside is a favourite feature. There’s a raised patio area which allows you to enjoy sea views while you cook on the barbecue and tuck into leisurely lunches thanks to the table and chairs provided.

PLEASE NOTE: travel cot and high chair available. WE PROVIDE BED LINEN BUT NOT TOWELS.
The access road to the property is very narrow. Small and medium cars will be able to access only. Other cars can use free on street parking before the entrance to the track or paid parking in the village.

Recommended for: Sunnyside is ideal for families and friends and is dog friendly (2 dogs max).

Favourite feature: It’s got to be the private garden with sea views.

About a holiday in Hope Cove

Hope Cove is a small but perfectly formed corner of South Devon, made up of two distinct beaches at Inner Hope and Outer Hope. In the winter months it is a quiet bubble away from the world with a charming village pub, The Bar & Cove Restaurant and a selection of hotels that also offer food, drink and spa treatments. In the summer, the intimate location has a happy, buzzy community vibe all of its own and is a haven for days spent on the beach and splashing about in the sea. Hope Cove also offers easy access directly onto the South West Coast Path, for breath taking clifftop walks, and it’s only a short drive (or long walk) from the famous seaside town of Salcombe.

Lovely property and location.

We had a couple of problems checking in because we hadn't been sent a PIN code and we didn't have phone reception to phone the agent. Once we managed to contact them and get the PIN code, we were very pleased with the property. It is beautifully equipped and feels very homely. Comfortable beds, lovely bathrooms, gorgeous views of the valley outside. The only slight issue was that we couldn't open 2 of the upstairs windows and it was very hot in the bedroom. (One did open). Also the garden wasn't really secure enough for our dogs (one of whom thinks he's Houdini). It could have done with better fencing. All in all, we loved it. It felt quite private as you aren't overlooked and the lane that runs down to it is quiet. Very convenient for the harbour.

Found many of the negative reviews out of order. Most of the complaints were not valid.

Television sound was extremely distorted at certain voice levels. Some programs unwatchable. This has been reported several times. Not good enough. TVs are not that expensive. Skylight in upstairs bedrooms is lifted by wind. Rattles terribly. Hook has been added to one side only. Why not both. Had to sleep on couch on two nights when it was windy. Again this must be a problem that people are aware of. Great place to stay if these problems are not ignored. The property is not cheap and should be fully serviceable. Shame complaints are ignored by owners or agents. Would not stay here again unless assured that these problems are fixed.

Perfect location

Perfect location, property could do with some updates i.e. TV in the lounge has an echo when on and Could also do with some decorating. But overall an absolutely beautiful location and cottage.

Perfect location for Hope Cove

This is the second time we have stayed at Sunnyside and I'm sure it won't be our last. The house is perfectly situated, large, clean and comfortable. It's well equipped, warm and great for the dogs too. Having sung It's praises there are a few things that do need attention - the fridge needs replacing, it isn't very cold and the trays on the door are broken. The upstairs bathroom would benefit from a proper shower and screen over the bath, it leaks everywhere! The TV could do with an update, we really struggled to hear it properly as the sound quality is poor. Finally, the property had recycling boxes last time we stayed, they weren't there this time so we had to take everything home. All minor niggles really but would be great if these issues were sorted in time for our visit next year. Still love the place and look forward to returning!

Disappointing

The property is old and tired and in need of full renovation. The downstairs bedroom was damp. The carpets ripped and in need of a clean as does the sofas. You can hear from downstairs every noise from the top bedroom. The fridge was in poor condition with a broken bottle shelf hanging on with a piece of celotape and not big enough for a party of 4 let alone if there were 6 people. The freezer is a tiny counter one again not adequate. Someone has attempted to touch up celings, walls and woodwork with a pinkish paint and not in white to match the rest of the walls. Outside could do with a tidy up. Location wise the property is perfect for adventures in and around the area but honestly the cost of the property for weeks rent was an insult. Such a shame.
