We loved the property...we stayed here with another couple who occupied the guest bedroom...comfortable throughout! Quick 10 minute walk to the beach...25 minute drive to Charleston...15 minutes to Sullivans Island...modern appliances, small downer was TV was not HD...not that we watched a lot...
So glad you enjoyed your stay at our Wild Dunes condo and thank you so much for your comments. We'll try do take care of the HD ... in fact, we thought at least one is HD!
Needs Repair, Better Cleaning, Better Communication
We arrived without issue. They had our pass at the correct gate and found the building without trouble. It was a little difficult to get into the key holder, but otherwise fine.
My issues are the following:
-There were issues with the unit not being very clean (oven was dirty, bathroom floors, etc). I contacted owner the first evening and she was very responsive and had her cleaning person call me.
-The ceiling fan and light in the second bedroom did NOT work, which I also reported to her. We had guests from out of state with us and they were very hot. Also only one vent worked in that bedroom. I let owner know that this was an issue and that our guests had to go to Walmart to purchase a fan because it was THAT uncomfortable. Owner was informed of this inconvenience to our guests and did not respond and has still not responded as of the time of this review (we checked out 10/6/19) I think this is absolutely unacceptable. We let her know we were ok with maintenance coming when we weren’t there but she did not respond. At the very least, someone should have brought a fan over for us.
-the bathroom lights in the second bedroom turned off and on randomly the entire time
- The notebook in the unit desperately needs updating. The menus were outdated, some even permanently closed down. It would have been great to have an accurate selection of local restaurants and things to do.
- overall, the unit needs repair (major cracks in wall, ceiling, etc)
- the living room blinds couldn’t be closed which I also reported to her. As a chronic migraine sufferer, it was an issue to not be able to close the blinds in the main living area and I did become ill.
I general, we were comfortable. Beds were comfortable. But these other issues combined definitely had an effect on our overall experience.
We would consider staying again if these issues were handled properly. Otherwise, we would stay elsewhere.
I live in NC, my condo is in SC and sometimes things happen that I cannot immediately take care of.
The ceiling fans in both bedrooms were replaced the week of October 15th when the HOA was correcting a small settling problem in our entire building. This had created some cracks in the sheet rock. Most units have been upgraded/updated but the buildings were built in 1986 and cracks from settling occur from time to time.
I contacted maintenance right away to check the fan and reported to the guest to please leave a key if they were not going to be there. There are two small fans in the unit and I was never advised that one was purchased, which is unfortunate. I would certainly have had housekeeping drop one off!
I also had maintenance check the vanity lights in the bathroom this guest addressed. Apparently the wrong type of bulb is/was the problem and has been or will be corrected while I am there November 6-17. RE: A/C vent - I asked the guest to check if the vent was closed as sometimes a guest will close one and I have no idea! I did not hear back. I keep a small step ladder in the laundry and supplies closet for such adjustments.
I reported the cleaning complains. Connie always wipes out the oven but does not "self clean" every week. She was perplexed that the bathroom floors were not up to snuff. The good thing is that this has been addressed and I know she will take note.
We keep a ring binder in the unit for guests to add to, etc. I will remove it as I am there only 2-3 times a year and I'm sure some of the info is incorrect. Often guests will call for our favorite eateries and I respond.
Difficulty with the blinds is a mystery and I am sorry for anyone with even one migraine experience. No one else has mentioned a problem with the blinds and I will check them while I'm there as well.
All in all I appreciate this guest's comments and have taken note accordingly. Maintenance and upgrades are ongoing in rental property. Carpet was replaced in May, painting is scheduled. We want our guests to be comfortable and we certainly want the unit to be clean!
We arrived without any problems, and our stay was very nice. We enjoyed having the pool right outside the decks. We found the condo to be homey and welcoming. We brought own laundry supplies and toiletries, but appreciated there was some there as well. The walk to the beach isn’t far and was a pleasant walk. The beach of course is awesome and wide. I like to come to Isle of palms every couple of years and would stay again if available. My family of three enjoyed and it was a week of home away from home. Thank you Cathey for any and all information you provided. We had a very nice stay. We left a couple of beach chairs in your storage area for you or future guest. Also, the drive over to Charleston is a very short drive and we loved that as well. We would recommend your lovely beach space to our friend and family, Thanks!
