Bait and Switch - Got taken
The owner put us in a different unit than listed online. I should have known something was up when his welcome text came 5 minutes before checkin and included a note that only 1 roll of toilet paper is included and bring your own if you have a longer stay... He wouldn't move us into that unit we booked as it was "unavailable" but I don't even know if he owned that unit since we never saw it. The unit he put us in had flood damage across the entire room, every baseboard was water damaged, active mold growing on the ceiling. Among other issues bed has a 3 inch slump in the middle of it (never used just visible), paint peeling off doors and ceiling. Owner tried to pin it on us for "not liking his property" but couldn't say anything about the fact that it was a completely different unit than what was listed. It's no wonder he didn't use the pictures for the unit.
The owner couldn't/wouldn't move us so we had to leave after speaking with VRBO. No luggage was ever brought in, no facilities were used and were there for 2 hours - only that long to try to communicate with owner and VRBO.
It's at the 2-week mark and the owner has yet to refund our money. I'm now waiting on VRBO's "book with confidence guarantee" to refund our money.
I hoped the refund would be issued by the owner so I could at least add that positive note for him. But so far, zero stars would be my rating of the facility and the owner.
