Hubby and I were headed to the Root River for a biking get away. We had hoped to stay in Lanesboro, but nothing was available for the first weekend in October. I had never heard of Wykoff, but took a chance based on stellar reviews.
Tammy is an excellent host — quick to respond to my many questions and even my odd request. This was her in-laws house, and it is lovingly updated to include BIG Roku TV, as well as a king-sized COMFY bed in the main bedroom (other room had a double and a twin). Bathroom was spacious and beautiful — plenty of towels, shampoo, soap, etc. Kitchen, living room were both spacious and comfy. Kuerig coffee maker made us budget our coffee use … I had brought my own ground coffee, wrongly assuming there would be a coffeemaker… we were restricted to the provided K-Cups. (NOTE — you may want to bring your own K-Cups).
We had glorious weather and the most wonderful time on the bike trail. Both Lanesboro and Whalen were celebrating fall festivals, so there was music, food in the parks, free buggy rides. We did 4 Daughters Winery (and were disappointed in the limited selection), we loved the Branding Iron in Preston and Stellar 185 Tap House in Spring Valley.
The highlight was stopping at all the Amish Farms and buying their bakery and craft items… we had been here/done that 25 years ago, and it really felt like a step back to a simpler, more peaceful time. We left so relaxed and refreshed. We absolutely will be back again! 💕
