The house's interior is decorated with a lot of style and attention to details. It is equipped with everything you would need for a vacation week. Especially worth mentioning is the huge gas oven with six burners which allow you to prepare meals for larger groups, a nespresso coffee machine and some carefully chosen chinaware. The house is warm, clean and has ample space for four (or more) on both floors. One thing worth mentioning is that the staircase to the upper level is very steep and a bit narrow. Not a big problem but to consider if you have special needs. One small drawback is the sink in the bath room which is suitable for little more than just washing your hands, because it is small and in squeezed in a corner, but you can also look at it as a charming uniqueness of this old house which by the way used to be a grocery store (I just skipped shaving for the weekend...).
The place has wifi which works super fast and flawless. The house is located at the Main Street of a small village but despite there is only little traffic. You can walk (800m) to the train station from which a regional train takes you to Amsterdam centraal in 16-18 minutes (round trip 7 euros). You can also drive to the station and leave the car at a park and ride area which is free of charge. Considering the 5€/h parking fees in central Amsterdam this is a very good strategy to explore the town. Alkmaar on the other hand is also only 30minutes by car and highly recommended, and to the beach it is even closer. Also in walking distance is a open space museum showing windmills and other ancient Dutch objects and buildings. It is highly frequented by mainly Asian tourists who you can see walking there from the train station. A nice bakery and coffee bar is nearby the house. The next supermarket is about five minutes by car.
Last not least, the landlord is a very nice and welcoming person. In summary I can only recommend this place and will certainly come back one day.
