Badkamer was erg vies.
Erg jammer.
Since we arrived later evening and the owner was working, we had to walk to the end of the block to pick up the key at a small African restaurant on the corner. Although a bit nervous since it was our first time in Harlem and they were speaking in their native dialect, it was not a problem at all.
The apartment was clean with a rather nice bedroom. The kitchen is small but we decided not to cook in, so not a problem for us. The shelves hung in there were so high, we were unable to reach the coffee maker and felt there was no safe option to stand on to get it. There is no microwave, toaster or blender.
The bathroom is very small but adequate. Towel hooks or towel bars would be a great help. There were 4 nice bath towels provided but no hand towels or wash cloths. Be sure to bring your own shampoo, etc. Hand soap is provided.
We were on an extended vacation with our primary purpose of doing the Rock N Roll Marathon in Brooklyn. There were 4 of us so the sleeper sofa was needed. It needs to be replaced. The matress does not stay in proper position at the bottom despite the owner's attempt at using rope to weave support. Using the couch cushions strategically, we were able to use it. The pillows need replacement in both sleeping areas, very lumpy. The sheets on the bed are knit and so pilled that we had to sleep on top of the top sheet to avoid them.
There is no TV but free WiFi is available.
We inquired about a garbage or trash can and were told to use garbage bags under kitchen sink. We had brought back a pizza so when done eating, we put the garbage in the bag and set it on the kitchen floor. We woke to find the bag had been chewed through and pizza crust crumbs were outside of it. We then used one of the 2 kitchen chairs to place the garbage on to keep the mouse out.
There was a window air conditioner in the bedroom when we got there which allowed a large gap open to the outside which may account for the mouse getting in. We removed the unit and closed the window as it wasn't needed. The kitchen window was open along the top edge without a screen so we closed that too.
Unfortunately, we had 2 more mouse encounters in our bedroom so our final night we had all our possessions either hanging off bed posts or on the bottom of our bed.
The owner has stated she never heard of this being an issue before and will address all of our concerns for future renters.
We were on the 4th floor, no elevator. Not an issue just a fact.
We are a couple with a kid staying for 4 nights. Apartment and location were fine . Good supermarket and underground nearby. We arrived in the morning, so we picked up the keys in restaurant at the corner. We were very disappointed with the very noisy air conditioning, also the apartment was not so clean and so the walls and furniture. The windows were incredibly opaque and no curtains at all. A lamp in the bedroom was broken. The worst thing was the sofa-bed. Luckily our daughter is only 6 and not so heavy, otherwise she could not sleep over there.
good location in Manhattan not so far from subway (15 mns walk) in the 4th floor (not so easy with the suitcase) the bed room is great for 2, but for 4 because the convertible couch in the living room is too old to sleep well. there was a missing curtain and no opaque one. In the kitchen only few dishes.
I hesitated with 2 stars anf finally let 3 because the host try to help us for a wifi problem even if she was not available on site. With fex efforts of maintenance this place would be nice.
We stayed mom, dad and two teenagers 5 nights. Apartment and location is OK, and installations are working . Good supermarket and station nearby. Didn't see any restaurants or breakfast places worth visiting. We arrived in the middle of the day, so the key was picked up in restaurant below. The flexibility was appreciated, but an introduction to the apartment would have been nice. We were not happy with the following: Wi-fi had fall-outs, probably due to bad connections in the wiring. Air condition was very noisy and birds had nested outside the bedroom window, and would start squealing in the morning. When showering, water would appear on the floor in the living room. It looked like it was coming up from underneath. Fair to say, the apartment had been cleaned, but the furniture was stained, and the walls appeared dirty and the Windows were so filthy on the outside it was almost impossible to see thru them. Curtains were missing, and the ones that weren't didn't give any protection against sunlight in the morning. Mirrors and posters were standing on the floor, taking up space. A bed side lamp and other furniture was broken, including the sofabed, that couldn't support the madras, so we had to take it out of the sofa, and place it on the floor. Plates and utensils in the kitchen were scarce and we had to search the apartment for something to use as bed linen. Despite of the poison in the kitchen, we had to kill a cockroach.
