The Trulli were lovely. We had concerns after booking that this was not a bona fide place due to problems with internet/hacking etc. but they are most certainly as good or better than described. As soon as the balance was paid we were put in contact with the local, Englsih speaking agent who met us on arrival and was available if problems should arise.
The photos are absolutely genuine and I have very similar views with my ordinary phone camera. If anything the place is better than the photos. The Trulli have been equipped to a high standard and the minor matters we flagged up with the agent were resolved that day. The pool and grounds are maintained regularly and the property properly cleaned between rentals.
We had dreadful weather but still very much enjoyed the area. There are lots of small towns to visit, the beach is sand castle digging sand and there are bigger more interesting towns to visit within reach. We hired bikes and found the terrain comfortable with little places to visit for a coffee or beer. We plan a return visit next year when we hope for less thunderstorms!
The trullo was immaculate, beautifully restored, and had everything we wanted. It's in a great location for visiting lots of the most interesting places in Puglia. Chris and Alison were on hand for any questions, and arranged a pasta making night with a local lady, Palma, which we did with our neighbours from the other trullo, and which I can really recommend. We only wish that we'd booked for longer!
Great holiday in a very well equipped and looked after trullo with a great pool. Loved it.
We and our friends have stayed in Trulli in this area before and they are nearly all compact but full of character. Trullo Alto is no exception, and even more importantly its location is superb, being on a hillside with fantastic views of the surrounding countryside. Having tea on the verandah in one's dressing gown in full sun and fabulous views was almost the best bit of each day. Virtually all the local towns have historic centres, so two weeks was just about right. Thoroughly recommend this accommodation and having the support of an excellent local agent is also reassuring.
Following our delightful stay in 2011 we immediately booked again for 2012 and were not disappointed. Our family of parents plus a 19 and 13 year old girls had a great time. The Alto Trulli is well appointed and maintained while improvements are an ongoing project with the pool being renewed during the off season to great effect. We enjoyed both the peaceful atmosphere around our tables in the evening but for for more entertainment the local town is good fun too. We are in the process of booking again for 2013.
Trulli Alto certainly lived up to our expectations. All the basics were there. The accommodation was spotlessly clean and everthing worked! The villa is in a great location with views over agricultural land and olive groves. Some guests mentioned the narrow rough track and barking dogs at night. Sure, the track is rough and narrow in places and we did hear dogs barking a couple of nights but you're out in the countryside not some high density villa complex on the coast - that's why we booked it!!
The pool was great - early morning swims before the sun is up were the best and we enjoyed watching the swallows skim the surface for water in the hot afternoons.
Alberobello is a charming town and only 5 minutes by car. Plenty of choice of bars and restaurants and surprisingly cheap to eat out.
Just a couple of recommendations - If you're arriving late at night, ask for the welcome pack or take the basics with you. There was nothing in the villa - not even a bottle of water. A few more wine glasses would be good as would another electric socket in the kitchen. Juggling the kettle and toaster at the same time required a bit of planning. However, these are minor issues. The acid test is would we go back? The answer is a resounding yes!
Finally, order course by course in the local restaurants. It all tends to arrive when cooked and ready rather than in sequence. The portions are huge and the antipasta can number up to 14 dishes as we found out!!!!!!!!!!!!!
