Manchester in Winter
This little cottage is conveniently located near Manchester proper. The two newly renovated bathrooms are clean and well stocked with new towels and other supplies. The master bedroom was delightful with a view of a babbling brook and surrounding woods. It is full of natural light. The porch too was very inviting except too cold for winter use. Speaking of winter use, the pot belly stove was necessary to maintain heat in the living area - this at a cost of more than $15 per day as wood was not supplied.
The kitchen needs renovation but was adequate for our week’s stay.
The three of us ( all adults) enjoyed our time here.
Not so great...
This place is clean and tidy. It is otherwise acceptable if you are maybe a group of young fraternity guys. It is very basic. It is right next to a fairly trafficked road while we were there. The river is there- somewhere- as the view is completely overgrown. I had safety concerns in the house. The electricity situation in the kitchen is frightening with extension cords running across the back of a hot oven and not enough outlets. The stairs upstairs are treacherous. They are steep and narrow and without adequate railings for safety. Not safe for those who are not sure footed or who have had one too many IPAs! I suppose the price is good for what it is. It is probably my fault for expecting too much as the photos portray a much bigger more spacious place. Nothing truly awful just ... not so great.
Thank you for your review, we pride ourselves on keeping a clean and tidy house. While we have no control over the landscaping around the river most people enjoy the beautiful Vermont scenery. I can assure you the kitchen is safe! It has hosted many holiday dinners over the years. And unfortunately no staircase is easy to climb after too many IPAs! The railing runs the entire length of the stairs and we have received no other safety concerns for the fourteen years we have owned the property. Thankfully we have day beds downstairs for guests.
Perfect Little Cabin
My family and I traveled to Manchester for the first time for a wedding. Joyce's Cabin had everything we needed for a family of 6 and worked great as our home base. It's in a great location just minutes to all of the restaurants and shops in Manchester of which there are many. The sleeping arrangements worked out perfectly as we were able to use the day beds in the living room for added comfort and space. We enjoyed the sun room every night for cocktails. Joyce is a great host and very easy to communicate with. Thank you for the hospitality.
Perfect set up for a family of 4
Property is exactly as billed. Plenty of space- easy, central location. We had no problems at all, and Joyce and John were easy to work with.
Terrific guests - respectful, considerate, extremely easy to communicate with. Would be happy to host them again in the future.
Great house in Manchester
My family had a fun week at the house and enjoyed the proximity to Manchester!
Anne was a Great guest. She was respectful of my home and a great communicator during the “Bomb Cyclone” bitter cold weather of January 2018.
Cold comfort in the Green Mountains
First, let me say that Joyce was a joy to work with. Anything I asked, she tried to provide. Very accommodating and helpful. The house is in a perfect location. Just a short drive to be in the center of lovely Manchester to visit outlets, great shops, and awesome restaurants, and, a little more a drive and you are at three great mountains for skiing/boarding. Of course, it was about a high of 7 degrees while we were there, so we mostly got cozy in the house. The house was very cozy indeed and had everything we needed. The wood burning stove is a very nice touch and provides a lot of warmth. We played board games, watched movies using our phones through the Chromecast, and cooked and drank. Everything we needed was there. We had a problem washing clothes, most likely due to the water supply being frozen, but that was an issue that Mother Nature was making happen, so no biggie. Would rent again in a moment. Great time in Vermont.
Ryan was a great guest to have. Extremely easy to communicate with and left the house as they found it, organized and clean. It was a pleasure to host them. I would have them back again and recommend them to anyone hosting.
