Very pleasant cottage, everything you need except for wifi, very well thought out regarding your needs for day to day living, missed the wifi, but after a couple of days it was an exprience to go back to the days before the Internet and wifi, pity the weather was not on our side to uterlise the garden space, but that is not down to the cottage or its owners, Thank You
A lovely little cottage.
A lovely little cottage. We enjoyed our stay.
A lovely cosy cottage, very well equipped
Great holiday cottage and location.
Great holiday cottage and location. The beach is 10 min walk away and is pebbles at the top, then sand after 20+ meters. We walked for a good hour and only saw 4 other people during that time. We tried the pub (1 min walk) a couple of nights and had a good meal, would eat there again. All roads were quiet and it was easy to get around the Lakes. Highly recommend a visit to Eskdale and Wast Water - much quieter than the usual tourist hot spots further away.
Comfort and equipment
The mattress was truly dreadful; probably the worst I've slept on during my 49 years of life. It was so bad, we had to come home a night early so we could get some sleep. If the mattress were replaced, I'd definitely score a "9".
There are no shops or any facilities in Silecroft apart from the 1 pub. Nearest shops we could find were in Bootle (shuts at 5.30pm) and Millom.
Overall, I'd recommend this cottage if the mattress is replaced.

I would recommend this cottage up to a point BUT it is not as advertised in that the WIFI is very flaky and unreliable and the road between the A-road and the cottage is only for experienced drivers as it is like a corkscrew ride at a fairground. Having said that the cottage is very comfortable but it is right on the main road of the hamlet and not very private unless you keep the blinds down. That didn't faze us as the conservatory was ideal to sit out in and eat, and the garden was nice to look at. Unfortunately it was rather overgrown so we couldn't actually use it.
The location is very quiet as it is very rural but quite close to the South Lakes, specifically Coniston Water, Windermere Water with its Railway and to Ravenglass and their miniature railway.
We had a very enjoyable holiday at Cobblers Cottage.
We had a very enjoyable holiday at Cobblers Cottage. It was very well equipped and when we reported that the Sky remote was faulty it was replaced the next day! The owner was very keen that we should enjoy ourselves and visited us to make sure. Despite some complaints in the visitors book about the wi-fi, we found it always available provided you stayed in the conservatory because the range of the router was limited. Some people complained about it being slow, but it was no slower than we were used to in York. We would recommend this cottage to all those who do not have outlandishly unreasonable expectations.
