Hosts are very pleasant and accommodating. House is clean, spacious, and secluded.
Great Back Road Country Living within minutes of Fort Collins, Rocky Mountains!
This apartment in a separate building on a working horse ranch is ideal for staying in a country setting while being close to all of the amenities this region has to offer.
Sit by the fire pit on a starry night, toasting marshmallows, or head into Fort Collins for great restaurants and entertainment in about 12 minutes!
Head west, and you'll be in the mountains in minutes as well. Hosts James and Claudia are super nice people, too !! This is a wonderful place to stay. We highly recommend it, and would've stayed for 6 more months if we could.
5 stars for this listing .
We had an absolutely wonderful time at your home! James was a perfect host. Every morning and evening we were greeted by the most adorable cat! I am really more of a dog lover, but this cat was the best! We were so close to Fort Collins. We were able to spend time in downtown Fort Collins to shop and have dinner. Then at the end of the day go back to LaPorte and enjoy the landscape, the horses, the CAT and the peace and quiet. Our son is attending CSU and he loved it as well! It was definitely a great find.
Beautiful and peaceful location
First of all, the apartment is MUCH NICER than the photos show...very spacious. Location just outside Fort Collins--easy access to shopping without all the activity. Gorgeous countryside views even with close proximity to major road. James and his family are great hosts--easy to converse with, yet give you private space. Kitchen could be a little more fleshed out for anyone who cooks. We stayed with our two dogs with no problems.
Thanks for sharing your place with us! Excellent hosts! The apartment was so cute. So quiet and peaceful here. We really enjoyed watching the horses and sheep. We enjoyed Laporte and Ft Collins very much.
Better than a hotel
We have stayed in VRBOS from the Florida Keys to the San Juan Islands in Washington and we have stayed in VRBOs all over our amazing home state of Colorado. We had a great weekend away in Fort Collins exploring Poudre Canyon, Red Feather Lakes and the Taste of Fort Collins. The home is only 10 minutes from Fort Collins.
The owners live on the property and this house is attached to their barn. They were easy to work with and friendly. The house was clean and finished using an eclectic collection of materials. The property is located on Highway 287 so there is a lot of road noise though it's somewhat buffered by a hillside.
This was a nice VRBO but it had some concerns. The VRBO property description stated it had air conditioning but what it really has are 2 ceiling fans (main room & bedroom) and a portable air conditioner (bedroom). It functioned well enough, provided you had the exhaust tube configured correctly (it had a tendency to fall out of place) but it sounded like a Boeing 747 was taking off as you slept. (It was mid-90s during our trip so very, very warm in the house). The description also states there is a gas grill, which technically there was. However, it was an old rusted grill full of wasps' nests and had no propane tank. We can’t imagine the last time it was cleaned and used. Lastly, 2 of 3 smoke detectors weren’t present; just wires coming out of the ceiling where they should have been installed. There wasn’t a dishwasher but it wasn't included in the description either. We were just surprised it wasn't present as it's a common appliance.
This is the most critical VRBO review we have ever written but it's still a good VRBO. Most VRBOs exceed your expectations and exceed the pictures. This VRBO was slightly below our expectations. With that said, it was still nicer than staying in a hotel room and we would recommend this house but just a few things to be aware of that aren't clear in the description.
