We booked our Easter break very late so we were very happy to find out that Tigh Oisre was still available
We were met by the caretaker Rupert who was most helpful and made us feel at home right away He had organised a welcome pack of essentials including a very nice bottle of Sauvignon Blanc! He showed us the run of the house and organised the use of the 3 canoes for us which unfortunately we didn't get to use
The house is beautiful and the location is central to accessing most of the Ring of Kerry We were very lucky with the weather and had sunshine and warm temperatures for the whole week which was an added bonus
The kitchen in the house is very well equipped which we made good use of as we cooked meals most evenings The bathrooms were luxurious both with pressurised showers. The floors and towel rails are heated in the bathrooms also
The beds were very comfortable and we had no problem getting a good nights sleep which is essential when away from home
We would highly recommend Tigh Oisre and hope to stay there again soon!
Thank you Richard for ensuring we were so well taken care of at such short notice...
Me and my girlfriends stayed at Tigh Oisre for a long weekend in the summer 2010. It was an excellent weekend away and we very much enjoyed staying in the house. Luckily the weather was fab and we were able to get the canoes on the water (which was only a quick walk down the road). We were so lucky and whilst out in the bay were joined by a pod of dolphins- no joke they were literally swimming by the canoes. It was pretty magical.
The house was great, clean and tidy. We also got a welcome pack with all the essentials in, which was great as we arrived at the house very late. We also got a loaf of Soda bread (had never tried it before but its delicious).
I think we would definitely stay at the house again and hope to go back very soon to see the dolphins!
My wife and 4 children stayed here in May 2010 and we were fortunate that the weather was really goo, in fact over the 14 days we had 3 rather windy and cloudy days, this gave us a good opportunity to explore the lovely town of Kenmare and venture over Molls Gap to Killarney where we all had a good time.
Every morning we started the day with a walk down to Oysterbed where the kids spent hours crabbing on the pier,I think this was the best part of their holiday as it was so difficult to drag them away.
The house was way better than described, truly superb, and the little things like the quality of the cutlery and linens made all the difference.
We all loved it here and would highly recommend this house for singles and those with kids.
My wife and I were not too sure what to expect when we arrived at Tigh Oisre, as we had rented some rather disapointing properties before, and were hoping this would be out of the ordinary, and it was!
My 2 tenage daughters whooped with delight when they arrived, as did my wife when we went inside.
The house is immaculate and furnished beautifully, and the owners had allowed us to use their 3 canoes which my daughters and I loved, we spent days exploring the creeks and Islands down at Oysterbed, which is only 400 yards from the house.
We had a magical holiday, thank you so much for all yor help, and we will be back
We have spent several happy holidays here staying in Tigh Oisre. The home is fantastic – definitely 5 star rating with wonderful design and decoration, but at the same time really comfortable and with every amenity possible. We didn’t want to leave!
We’ve always had good weather for Ireland and enjoyed all the activities around us, especially our visits to Kenmare and Killarney and the various golf courses. The Irish are such a friendly lot and we loved the pubs and restaurants. We have met some real characters!
