We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Christianshaven. Very quiet, spacious, sunny flat with everything one could need for comfort. Perfect location. Lovely landlord. Very happy.
As mentioned by others, this is a great location right on the canal of Christianshavn. Also an easy walk to Nyhavn, where you can enjoy the great restaurants and get on the 48 hour hop on / hop off boat and bus tours which is a great way to get around and see the city. The apartment is sun filled and clean, and we really enjoyed sitting on the balcony, enjoying coffee and people watching. Malene was great – she had fresh flowers for us, spent time acclimating us to the area, and even made a special trip back when we requested extra linens.
Our only complaint is that the unit definitely needs updating. We didn’t mind the décor, which one could describe as “shabby chic,” but the bathroom is especially dated and not comfortable in terms of showering or bathing. The furniture in the living room and balcony are very dated and not especially well made. The laundry facility is in a separate until altogether, and you have to “sign up” for dates/times to use the washer and dryer. The apartment is well secured, but there is no lighting in the entryway when you come in during the evening which we found to be problematic.
All in all, I would recommend the apartment for all of its positive qualities. But if you are someone that expects everything to be just so and in great condition, this may not be the place for you.
Excellent location, near buses and the Metro, beautiful scenery on a canal, very safe neighborhood. We slept with the windows open and listened to church bells. Best is Malene who is hospitality personified, provides annotated maps of the area, restaurant recommendations, and transit info.
The title of the review says it all! Malene's apartment is relaxing (sitting on the balcony watching life in Copenhagen), happy (lots of sunlight and colorful decor, especially the main bedroom walls!), comfortable (we felt at home) and convenient (metro and ferry bus 1-2 blocks from apartment, food stores and restaurants in the neighborhood). The apartment is in a walkable location to everything you need and want to see and do.
My wife and I spent 2 weeks at Malene's and truly enjoyed it. She has thought of everything - hooks for coats/robes/towels, electricity adapters, hair dryer, map of stores and restaurants in the neighborhood, toiletries, laundry/dish/bath soap, etc) - so that we would be comfortable. There is a washer and dryer onsite; a must for a long stay such as ours. It's a charming apartment, and the best part is that Malene truly wants you to enjoy it and Copenhagen, and she helps with any questions or information you need. We'd love to stay here again should our travels allow us to return.
Malene was very helpful and a really interesting person. The flat was really nice , very tidy and well maintained and with some of the photographs of Malene's family around it still felt like a home. It was the perfect location. Great balcony to sit and watch the world go by. Malene was kind enough to provide myself and my son Ruari with a couple of bicycles to have the use of while we were in Copenhagen. I used the big black bike to cycle around and it was great. Thanks for that. I was just about developing a sense of direction in the last couple of days.
There are lots of interesting local things within easy walking distance of the flat. I had a nice chat with the woman who runs the little second hand shop along a bit from the flat. I bought a pair of hand knitted, Ugandan wool, organically died socks (which were new). There's a nice cafe directly under the flat. It's a pity Copenhagen is so expensive other wise it would be a great place to visit regularly. The flat couldn't have been any better and it added to what was a great break.
As stated in previous reviews, the location is excellent and within walking distance of most places visited. It is also easy to access mass transit. The neighborhood is great and the view of the canal was fun. Malene was helpful at check-in and left a lot of information We were sadly disappointed in the unit itself; it didn't live up the the pictures in the listing. It needed a much more thorough cleaning, especially the kitchen and bathroom. The leather living room furniture was very worn. The bed in the master bedroom was uncomfortable (it felt like only box springs) with threadbare sheets and could use a memory foam topper. It would also help to have room darkening curtains in there. Even though there is an elevator, you will have to climb stairs to get to it. We have used VRBO many times, and this unit doesn't live up to the standards we have experienced in the past.
