7 nights stay starting 12/25/16. Arrange transport prior to arrival. You won't have unit address, nor according to mgr. would it matter (…taxis won't find an address, you'll have to show them where to drop you off). Have his number handy. Access to second floor unit, via deck of adjacent unit. No front door. Security is a keyed-latch on sliding glass deck door.
Overall: Spacious one-BR w/full kitchen. Lacking charm/décor. Furnishings show age and wear. Utilitarian, though not uncomfortable. Sizeable deck table chairs and two chaises overlooking the ocean. "Beach" covered in boulders. Swimming is N/A. Enjoy sounds and ok view.
Internet: Daytime, excellent. Night terrible.
TV: Thru ROKU. Broken when arrived, replaced Friday. Limited bandwidth during the evenings (see above), TV useless at night. Play for 5sec, buffer for 30sec.
Washer/Dryer: Tried small load, beeped, broke, error message, water leak, clothes covered in detergent. Rinsed off in shower. Dryer works, but vents INSIDE the unit.
Location: 5-min walk to Sunset Beach/Maho. Daytime acceptable, (minus giant puddles if rainy). 800yds on airport boundary road which at night is unlit, barren (construction), no sidewalks. Occasional car traffic. Take taxi home if late hour and sobriety in question. You'll have to direct them.
Groceries: Maho Market (Northwest side of the runway). Well stocked + liquor.
- Spatula encrusted with burnt food. Yuck.
- Both bathroom lightbulbs burned out. Replaced Wed.
- No paper towels, garbage bags, laundry detergent.
- A/C in living room disabled. Too costly to operate!
Rikki: Property manager, though clearly not his "calling". Nice young man, well-spoken/educated, multi-lingual, pleasant, agreeable, not shady. Lives nearby. That being said, this is an island, and island mentality rules the day. Washer broken, no comment. Same with spatula. Missing garbage bags and the like blamed on maids. 4.5 days to replace Roku. Takeaway…text or call Rikki (or WhatsApp). He gets too many emails (according to him) to respond to yours in a timely manner.
Summary: Booked last minute. Desperately wanted sun last week of the year. Was this or nothing. Glad because there are many lovely things to do on the island (and off). Weather wonderful! Rented car for the entire week. Overall, more positive than negative, but could NOT see myself staying here again.
My friend and I had a relaxing 5 night stay at the condo. It's in a lovely location right on the coast and is very safe and quiet however not really suitable (like most of the island!) without a car. The wifi is really reliable compared to anywhere else we went on the island and the air con units work well. The decor in the apartment is a bit dated and could do with a more powerful shower and there was no loo roll or complimentary toiletries like we had in other condos. The manager Rikki is fabulous - clearly a super busy guy but was there when we needed him and lovely to chat to. Thanks Rikki for a great vacation!x
We spent most of our time when we were at the apt. on the lanai watching the surf, the boats, & the airplanes. Very relaxing. It is located in a quiet, safe area between 2 beaches. The place it self suited us fine. Don't expect fancy. There isn't a closet, but there is a washer & dryer. You will have to furnish soap, etc. Plenty of beach towels are provided. TV is through the internet & we gave up on it because it would freeze, but the WI-FI worked. We didn't care much about the little quirks because we could see & hear the ocean! It is a bargain for the area.
I stayed for 2 Weeks in the apartment. The apartment itself is okay. The furniture and the kitchen have seen better days. The best part is the view.
For me the most disappointing part was the lack of care from the manager/owner during the stay.
The Wi-Fi information is handwritten on some paper that’s all the instructions there is. As nobody was there to greet me I figured the rest out by myself.
On my second day I lost the key to the apartment. Rikki the manager meet me with a spare key. I told him that I would pay to make an extra set but he said that I would have to do it myself. I found it a bit strange but he told me a place where to go to. As I went there I found out it was not as easy as I thought. In the end it took me 3 days to find a key maker to make an extra set.
On the start of my second week I turned the a/c on in the living room in the morning and it started smoking. Which was scary because at first I did not see it I only smelled it. Rikki told me he will send someone and I should leave the key outside. When I came back in the evening it was not fixed.
The next day I tried to wash my laundry. The washing machine was not working.
Rikki said he will be there shortly which he was with a technician for the a/c. Regarding the washing machine he said he had to get a new one as it happened already 3 times that it broke down. When I got back later neither the A/C was working nor the washing machine.
As I informed Rikki. He said he will buy a new A/C. As it was Saturday I hoped on Monday there would be a new one but guess what neither the washing machine nor the A/C was fixed or changed during my stay which meant 6 days without A/C and washing machine. I was afraid to leave the a/c in the bedroom on while I was gone as I thought this one could also go up in smoke as well and then everything would get burnt down.
On the departure day I wrote Rikki that I would leave the key inside after I left and the response was “great I send the cleaner” which arrived 10 minutes later when I was not finished yet.
There was no message like “Sorry that we could not fix the a/c and washing machine” or “I hope you enjoyed your stay” or “Have a good trip home”. Nothing and that was the most disappointing. It was like as he did not care.
I know that it was bad luck that the things broke down and I can also understand that maybe it was not possible to fix it within the time I was there but that there is no excuse the way it was handled.
The appartment was very nice and immaculate. We enjoyed the view and the convenience of the location. Such a great experience and would recommend go everybody :)
Stayed there for a fewhile days and I absolutely fell in love with it. Definitely coming back again.
