The highlight of our trip to Umbria
The house is without a doubt the nicest we have rented from HomeAway in more than 10 years. It is very spacious, comfortable, and ideally located. It is in the old part of Spello close to all the historical sites and restaurants. It is less than a 10 minute walk to the train station so we were able to visit many of the hill towns such as Assisi, Spoleto and Perugia with a short train ride.
What makes this house even more special is the property owner Cinzia. From the moment she met us at the train station we felt very welcomed. She had the kitchen well-stocked with coffee, wine, olive oil, sweets and more. She lives next door so we would often see her in the garden and we enjoyed our conversations with her. We left feeling that we had a friend in Spello.
Very comfortable, great location - recommended
We really enjoyed our time in Spello and the apartment was great - very comfortable, fantastic location and the owner, Cinzia, makes it even more special. She has made the apartment charming and, as a bonus, has stocked the cupboards and fridge in the kitchen with essentials. The living and dining area, as well as the main bedroom, are spacious with the second bedroom having a single bed which is quite adequate. The bedrooms and bathroom are on the second floor with the stairs easily managed.
The train station is an easy walking distance and a supermarket (superconti) is less than 10 minutes walk and plenty of restaurants close by to choose from.
Quiet calm property in delightful town
I loved staying here. It was a quiet calming property with plenty of space and a private garden, a real haven from busy city. Cinzia couldn't do more to help and even provided some basic food which is a lifesaver if you've spent all day travelling. There are a few cats around, which I loved, but one should keep in mind if that's an issue. They stay outdoors and do their own thing. Spello is a great place to unwind, charming medieval town with not many tourists - at least when I went in early July.
Perfect romantic getaway
We rented this spacious, beautifully appointed, charming, and quintessentially Italian apartment for four nights from the lovely and gracious Cinziana and her kind husband. It is without a doubt one of our favorite rentals. The immaculately clean kitchen contains everything you will need to make an entire meal. The refrigerator was generously stocked with bottled water, juice and beer. Coffee was on hand, milk if you wanted it. A welcome bottle of wine was much appreciated. The cupboards were loaded with, not just the basics, but spices, sauces, even aluminum foil. A working washing machine came in very, very handy! There are candles everywhere! Fresh flowers. Thoughtful touches throughout. The bedroom is beautiful with lovely views of the garden, which is wonderful to sit in and enjoy a glass of wine in the evening.
But it is Cinziana herself that made our experience so special. She met our train at the station, drove us to the supermarket, helped us pick out a selection of the best local delicacies, and helped us get settled in her apartment in this most magical of hill towns. She was always there to answer questions and make suggestions. One of which was to eat at La Cantina (be sure to reserve a table). This restaurant is outstanding in every way.
Spello makes a perfect base from which to explore the small hill towns just south, Bevagna, Montefalco, Todi, even Orvieto, and to the north; Gubbio and Assisi. For a rare treat, drive northeast and into the Sibillini National Park.
If we could return tomorrow, we would! And for sure, we would stay in this little gem of an apartment. Grazie mille Cinziano per tutto :D
Another special time in Spello. The location is perfect, peaceful but right inside the wonderful hilltop town of Spello. The apartment is spotless, comfortable and equipped with all a holiday renter would require. Cinzia is so helpful and kind. Can't wait to return
A town which must be visited.
We stayed in the house for one week in beginning of May. We had previously stayed a couple of years ago. Cinzia and Graziano made us feel welcome again and their lovely house has everything one would need and more. My husband and I like to 'do our own thing' on holiday and this privacy we like was given to us by the helpful owners. The owners are there however when needed. We again had a lovely break in our fav.destination and will certainly return soon. Spello is a fascinating town and the area is abundant with beautiful small towns and villages to visit. An area in Italy which must be seen. Grace and Eddie Kilmarnock Scotland.
