We really enjoyed our time at Gambier Loft. It was a lovely place to spend our 27th Anniversary. There were many personal touches and thoughtful additions that made our stay wonderful....the delicious pastries, luxurious linens and fresh flowers to name a few. We would recommend it as a great place to stay for any occasion! Mark & Lois Myer
The moment we pulled to the property we were in awe of the surroundings. The loft itself, just from the outside made us excited for our stay. With beautiful landscape and a wonderful charm that cannot be ignored we were anxious to see what still was unseen. Patricia greeted us upon arrival with a wonderful smile and a friendly spirit. She showed us into the loft which was perfect from the floor to the ceiling. Every inch was decorated perfectly and appeared to be thought out. Pastries sat on a table in a dish reminding me of something that is seen in a bakery. The setting called to be sat at with a coffee. The kitchen was impeccably clean and charming. A Keurig could be seen and made me excited for the morning so I can visit the table with the pastry. We then were shown into the living area which had a large dining table to the left to sit from what I can recall four people. The table was decorated with perfectly placed flowers. One in each little vase, only adding to the wonderful character of the space. Just behind the table was two twin beds with bedding that begged to be slept in. To the right, seating with a TV which Patricia pointed out had DirectTV. My son couldn't wait to watch his cartoons. Patricia then showed us to the room which included a queen bed and the bathroom. Again, something out of a magazine everything had a purposeful place. The bathroom was very clean and inviting. Every thing that we could have needed was provided, even items I wouldn't have thought of. We were thankful that a washer and dryer was in the bathroom giving us the option to clean some things prior to heading home the next day. Patricia explained that we were welcome to walk the grounds and explore. During our stay we befriended their cat who was sweet and loving. He was my kids favorite part and we are still talking about the sweet orange cat that we met during our stay. We enjoyed the swing on the nearby tree, with the smells of the beginning of fall and taking in the sights of the countryside. We walked to the pond which had two lounging chairs and a firepit. At this point we were wishing we had an extra night to enjoy each part of this place just a little bit more. That evening we each were cozy in our beds. The bedding and mattresses made you feel like you were at a five star hotel only to continue our amazement with the Gambier Loft. If you are going to stay anywhere in the Gambier area, please make it the Gambier loft! You will not be disappointed!
We did a two night stay with Patricia as we had a family wedding in the next town over. After just a few hours we were wishing we had booked longer. The loft was immaculate, very modern and clean, yet had this beautiful rustic farm vibe. The kitchen was stocked with the perfect essentials to help us survive our two days with our little guys (2 and 5). Patricia was so sweet and helpful regarding things to do in the area. She also entertained and loved on our little boys each time they were out and running about. The farm was beautiful and the kids loved exploring the pond and the barns. My kids still ask about Butternut and Cooper, the house cats! On our 10 hour trek home my kids very much enjoyed the apples Patricia let us pick from the beautiful tree sitting right in front of the loft. Don't miss this secret spot if you are anywhere in the area. My husband and I already decided we need to come spend a week WITHOUT our kids!
A friend and I stayed at this property for one night. Overall, I can't say enough nice things about it - the loft itself is adorable in an idyllic setting and has every amenity you could need. Patricia and Alan are absolutely wonderful hosts as well. We were staying as part of a charity cycling event and they graciously offered to pick us up from Gambier so we wouldn't have to ride after a long day as we were without a car; Patricia even make sure we had items to cook breakfast with the next morning since we didn't have the opportunity to go to the store. We are looking forward to staying again!
We enjoyed our stay at the Gambier loft very much and will definitely be back! From the soft wind blown trees to the chirping frogs in the pond to crackling fires at night everything was so relaxing. The attention to every detail at this loft was amazing! A lot of love & work went into creating a perfect retreat for others to enjoy which just proves the generous spirit of Patricia & Alan. Thanks for a great weekend!
We stay in a lot of vacation rentals as preferred accommodations when we travel. The Gambier Loft certainly was at the top of what we have experienced. The space was exceptionally clean. Materials and finishes were high end. The kitchen was very well equipped and the owner provided refrigerator items of butter, milk, creamer, mayonnaise and eggs. A drawer held cereals, oatmeal, snacks and popcorn. Coffee cake under a glass dome was very delicious. Sometimes it is hard to tell from photos how a space and its surroundings will look. In this case, the interior ambiance was perhaps better than pictured. Very light filled, with panoramic views around. Some furnishings are a little different, but better than shown in the photos. The owner’s house is just next door and shown in one of the photos with brick façade, Gothic style window, and porch fretwork. This is a little confusing, as it is not labeled as, so you might think this was the front of the loft. I had to carefully study photos to determine that this was a separate building. (The loft where you stay is on the far side of that house.) What is not completely apparent per the photos is the location out in the country. Although some photos show the vista, the location’s isolation is not fully apparent. You can see some homes and barns in the distance, but really it is out there all by itself. So, a very quiet and peaceful spot. We happen to enjoy this and would return in a heartbeat. We’ll keep this on our radar for a future visit to do some bicycling and other touring in the area.
