Charming cabin in a picturesque setting
My husband and I brought his parents and our teenage son to Boone to visit my oldest son at App State. We decided to rent a cabin instead of getting hotel rooms and I am so glad we did! This cabin is very conveniently located near town but it is definitely located in a rustic mountainside setting. Our vehicle navigation system took us right to it. Make sure you enter the cabin address into your navigation system before you get here and don't rely on your phone map as none of us were able to get cell service once on the mountain (the cabin has WiFi, though). The babbling stream is so pleasing to look at and listen to. There's plenty of outdoor seating to enjoy the sights and sounds, and an outdoor fire pit if you wish to use it. The cabin is very clean and updated and very warm. The exterior walls are solid wood and every room is very insulated. We had weather ranging from the 60's to the 30's (we even saw a sprinkling of snow in APRIL) and the temperature the house was always perfect. We burnt a fire in the fireplace and it was just so perfect to enjoy that fire while we watched the Masters on TV. The showers were clean, had great water pressure and plenty of hot water. There were plenty of clean towels for us. My in-laws couldn't stop raving about how much they loved this cabin! My mother-in-law is a real stickler about things being very clean and she had no complaints!!! The only things that weren't perfect about this cabin is that the grill grates were too rusted and broken to cook on, and the coffee maker didn't want to drain correctly (had to keep an eye on it to make sure water didn't overflow from the grounds basket. I think was due to the pot not reaching the drain trigger in the basket... Perhaps a different pot would work better). We will definitely rent this cabin again. She's a gem!
Lisa, thank you so much for your great feedback on the cabin. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay, and will buy a new coffeepot and see what we can do to fix the grill so that the next time you stay, hopefully everything will be perfect!
Had a great weekend. Very happy with our cabin & surroundings.
Wonderful property for a great weekend getaway!
We love that this cabin is only 4.5 miles from town, yet feels a world away. We were in town to visit our sons and attend the ASU football game and the location could not have been more convenient. The cabin is extremely well-furnished, was very clean on our arrival, and had all of the comforts of home. We loved sitting on the porch listening to the creek and enjoyed time together around the outdoor firepit. We will be back soon!
Quiet, relaxing and peaceful
The cabin is decorated beautifully and is a really nice place for a weekend get away.
Very cozey and secluded.
The directions were not good. Include Goober Peas Grocery has a landmark to turn. Our odometer does not read in tenths, so we went past the driveway. A colorful landmark at the driveway would also be helpful. We enjoyed the King size beds. Both Couples needed this respite away from the city. We were able to have a fire in the fire pit and s'mores, so good! We would come back
Peaceful, cozy cabin beautifully positioned on a trout stream.
Our family enjoyed the long June weekend we spent in Boone at this lovely cabin. It is in great condition, beautifully decorated and included all the ammenities to make our stay comfortable while still enjoying the peacefulness of the mountains - two spacious bedrooms with king size beds - well equipped kitchen - washer and dryer - etc. The wifi worked perfectly. Our 15 year old son LOVED the hours he spent wading up and down the trout stream - catching several trout! If you have a fisherman in the group - make sure they pack wadders (not good for bank fishing). Traveling to downtown Boone was very easy (we were there for a baseball tournament at ASU) - taking only 15-20 minutes. We will definitely come back - it was the perfect spot for our family.
Please do note - there was no cell phone service. There is a house phone; however, we could not get it to work properly (line was full of static and could not hear). Finding the cabin is a little tricky. They do provide you with a map - GPS is kinda bust up there! Keep your eyes peeled and follow the map closely. Our only frustration was that the wrong key code was given to us by the property management company - then, couldn't call because our cell phone didn't work at the cabin. We had to drive a bit to get cell service to call the property management company - they were very responsive and provided the correct number quickly. The property management company was also very easy to work with as we wanted to come in a little early on the first day (arrived at 2:00 rather than 4:00) - they were awesome to work with and accomodated.
