We loved our stay at Villa Paradiso. If only I could wake up to views like that every day. We have travelled all around the world over the years and stayed in some lovely hotels but I dont think I have ever been so speechless when standing on the balcony admiring the views before. Nice apartment, had everything we needed, nice and clean and comfy beds, quilt and pillows. Lake Orta is a hidden gem and you must visit, San Guilio was gorgeous with cobbled streets and quaint shops. William provided lots of info on area and where to visit. Thanks for a great stay, Sonya from Staffs
This was the second time we stayed at Villa Gelsomina in apartment Paradiso, and again we had a wonderful time!
It's view at lake Orta and the swiss mountains is really the best view you can imagine.
The apartment is well furnished and everything you need is there.
The swimmingpool is big enough for a daily swim or refreshment.
If we can we will sure come back again!
Thanks for the great service William!
The listing was accurate - property clean, layout and facilities as listed. Owner provided excellent customer service.
(Because of mobility problems we were not able to undertake many activities nor explore many restaurants.)
Having previously stayed in Dolce Vita and Panorama, this was our third visit to Villa Gelsomina and it was superb as always.
There are lots of reasons why we keep going back. The villa is in a great location and has quite stunning views from the balcony and garden of Lake Orta and the Alps. The apartments are comfortable and well equipped, with everything that we could want during the holiday. The villa is in a quiet and peaceful location with great walks on the doorstep, and the beautiful towns and villages around Lake Orta are very easy to reach. The information provided by William about the villa, places to visit, and local walks (with maps and instructions) is fantastic, and there is so much to do that we are always spoiled for choice. The beautiful towns and islands of Lake Maggiore are also very close and we visited Stressa about a half hour drive from the villa, and Locarno and Ascona in Switzerland about a one and a half hour drive from the villa. We were even fortunate enough to have the Giro d’Italia cycle race passing within walking distance down on the lakeside this time.
There are plenty of great restaurants a short drive/taxi ride from the villa and one within walking distance. We have tried many of them and have never been disappointed. Our favourite again was Il Cucchiaio di Legno (The Wooden Spoon) at Legro – it’s a very special treat. We also recommend L’Ustaria Ca’ dal Rat (fantastic sunset views at a lake front table) and Antico Agnello at Miasino – great food and service at both. Going out was great, but equally good was staying in and having a barbeque or take-away pizza while enjoying the sunset over the Monte Rosa from the garden and balcony.
We invited some friends to join us this time and were delighted that they loved the villa as much as we do. They were already discussing their next visit before we left.
The location of the apartment high on the hills surrounding beautiful Lake Orta with views that never ceased to amaze. On a clear day you can start the morning with a stunning view of snow-capped Monte Rosa and later enjoy an evening drink on the balcony watching the sunset across the water.
The particulars of this apartment are described in accurate detail by William and he provided a very responsive service both before and during our stay.
There are many local attractions in this UNESCO Heritage area and some excellent restaurants (one within an easy walk).
Especially recommended for two adult couples (the complex may feel a little busy when all apartments are rented).
I cannot recommend the Paradiso apartment at Villa Gelsomina highly enough, it's a real home from home with everything on hand you will need during your stay. The owner, William, couldn't have been more helpful and provided us with a wealth of information about the villa and surrounding area prior to our stay. This really assisted us in making the most of our stay.
The balcony views over Lake Orta are absolutely breathtaking from every room, moreso as we were fortunate enough to have clear views of Monte Rosa on most days. The beautifully kept tranquil, private gardens to the front of the villa were a complete surprise and a lovely place to catch the morning sunshine with a good book.
There were plenty of dvd's, books and games on hand around the property for our use and we found the Paradiso apartment to be clean and well maintained on our arrival. Of note, there was no tv in the lounge, which wasn't a problem for us as the only member of our party who was interested in watching it was my nephew. Fortunately for him we allocated him the bedroom where the tv/dvd player was actually situated.
We rented a car during our stay to allow for plenty of sightseeing and a quick one day trip into Switzerland but there are plenty of lovely walks in the vicinity of the villa. We particularly enjoyed a leisurely 2 hour walk to Orta San Guilio during our stay with plenty of chances to admire the beautiful woodland around this region and surrounding scenery en route. William's friend, Rita, who speaks excellent English runs a local taxi service which was really handy on the day of a family wedding we were attending at the lake.
There are plenty of lovely restaurants to visit in Orta San Guilio, our definite favourite being Ristorante il Bocciolo on the Strada Statale 229 where the staff couldn't be more helpful and accommodating despite our pre-wedding family gathering of 10 descending on them without any warning whatsoever. The menu and food itself was excellent.
I would have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending Villa Gelsomina and would like to mention that William's kind and friendly attitude was a refreshing change from the impersonal service usually expected when making a holiday booking.
I hope this review is helpful and would definitely recommend you look no further if you like peaceful walks, wonderful views and are looking for a well earned escape from modern day life!
