Awesome!
We stayed here in June of 2004, and will always remember our time here! Our hosts were perfect & I couldn't have asked for nicer people. The location is perfect for taking day trips to the hills and check out the vineyards and cheese caves and just a few minutes from the Mediterranean for a day at the beach. We also did day trips to Carcassonne, and Montpellier. We even drove to Spain and traveled through 'hills' & down the coast to Roses. The country side is spectacular and the people were very welcoming. A few mornings I drove to Pezenas and drank coffee at a sidewalk cafe and acted like I lived there! The shops were fun to browse in the square of Pezenas as well. There is so much to do, but if you just want to relax and enjoy the village life that is an option too. I hope to come back one day!!
Was my dream trip come true
Lovely place in a lovely village of lovely people. The bell in the 1000 yr old steeple rings to remind you not to waste one minute of your time here. Keep a journal of the special moments, they will happen all around you. Walk in the vines and make sure that you fill up a wine jug at the ivy covered winery right there around the corner. Touch everything, you are touching history, 400, 500, 600 years or older. This home is one of a kind, mixing old with new. All the convieniences surrounded by real old world walls. This place was all ready old in 1776 when our declaration was written. We don't have history like this in the US, anywhere.
Drive out to the city of Roquefort for the best Bleu cheese in the world. Drive down to Carcassone to see the castle (then ask your neighbor if you can see his replica, it's beautiful.) His dog had breakfast with me every morning. Be sure to ask first about the pastries from the bakery, some are surprisingly soaked in alcohol. Do not miss having dinner at the hotel, I still rave about it and it's been a couple of years now. Your hosts are super nice and will give you great advice if you ask. Go to the coast, walk the streets of the village, you are walking thru history. Eat Crepes at a real crepery.
Try not to get caught up in being a tourist...live there, be part of the village. It will become a part of you. I would recommend this beautiful home to everyone. Have coffee in the loggia with fresh bread and jam as the sun comes up. I watched the most incredible electrical storm one night, looking out that very window. Make sure to try the bacon from the market, it's delicious. The Tabac has really cute gift items and candy for your sweet tooth.
I loved my vacation here, 3 weeks wasn't long enough, but I will always remember them.
