Loved every minute.
Two children, myself, husband and my parents stayed. Tons of things to do kayaking in the lake swimming fishing sitting on the porch. Just enjoying time with family. Property owners friendly and welcoming felt like family.
It was a very nice place has a little traffic but beautiful views and very nice house
Great Stay - Great Owners - Great Family Time
The property exceeded our expectations. Our stay included two adults with 6 teenagers, and a dog. The property was as advertised and made for a delightful weekend. No need to worry about linens, towels, and kitchenware. This rental was fully stocked with everything that you need. What a great benefit!!! No worries.
The cabin is a well maintained rustic cabin with most of the original charms still intact. Door hardware, locks, structure, etc. This was topped off with comfortable furniture, outdoor furniture and plenty of seating both inside and out. The property was very well groomed and maintained.
The proximity to the lake cannot be beat. There's a public launch just a few hundred yards away. There's a walking trail from the cabin to the lake. You can enjoy the water without a boat if you wish, and fish right from the shoreline. The property has plenty of privacy, so no need to worry about waking the neighbors (there are none). Again, just a wonderful piece of property and history of the lake.
Lastly, I wanted to note that the owners are top notch people. Judith and Tim met us upon arrival, ensured that we were all settled in, and chatted with us a bit just as we were getting ready to leave. They are great people who truly cared about our stay, and wanted us to get the most out of the visit to Raystown Lake and the cabin. It was a pleasure to meet such wonderful hosts. Many thanks to them.
We hope to return in the near future, and continue to explore and experience all that the lake and local area has to offer .
Fantastic place, fantastic hosts
From start to finish the whole trip was stress free. The booking process was easy. Judy texted us great directions to the cabin the week of the trip, and Tim met us there, at the top of the long, well maintained driveway, making sure all of our questions were answered. The house is an incredible throw back to the 1700's with the exposed logs, and the newly remodeled kitchen with it's spacious counter tops was put to good use all week. The second bathroom (commandeered by my wife) made it convenient for multiple people to get ready in the morning.
We spent nights around the fire pit, and spent mornings on the screened in porch drinking coffee and watching the turkeys, chipmunks, rabbits, deer, groundhogs, turtles, etc running around out back!
The boat launch is literally at the bottom of the driveway, and there are a couple of walking paths through the brush that take you back to some cool swimming holes. (The dogs loved that!)
Tim and Judy made sure everything we needed was taken care of, and our dogs enjoyed meeting and playing with their good dog Jake as well.
The town of Huntington is charming and real close. There were a few really good places to eat, as well as antique stores, A Giant Supermarket and a Walmart in case you forgot to pack anything. We will definitely be back!
Stunning views and wonderful hosts
We had the best time at this cabin. The views were gorgeous and the hosts were so friendly! Definitely would recommend.
Raystown Lake Family Vacation with Pets (2 dogs)
Family vacation of four adults and 2 children, we stay in this wonderful cabin with lake access. This property provided everything you could think of. From all the bedding, towels, cookware, propane (grill), and even firewood for the fire pit. This was a clean property that was run by the nicest/friendliest couple that check in daily, have great local info and tips. The kids loved going down to the lake via a path to tubing in the lake. High light was the kids having an eagle feed on fish just 25 feet from them. Overall all a great experience. I would recommend and stay at this property again. Thank you Judy and Tim for a great stay. Ps. Our Pets enjoyed getting away with the family.
Thank you for your kind words, we appreciate! Always welcome. Nature at her finest seeing the eagle. The following week the renters watched the bear walk by in the yard. The rustic cabin is a hidden gem loved by many.
