The perfect sunny studio on the big island
We had an awesome time in Waikoloa Village because of it's proximity to beautiful beaches, wildlife and the owner's recommendations. There are tons of beautiful birds coming to the backyard and you're likely to see many geckos and other small lizards on the property. We loved that we had a grill and could save some money by making dinner. Kim also had a book of recommended restaurants, beaches and activities which were very helpful. We will definitely be recommending the studio to our family and friends!
Charming and captivating
Lovely studio unit with tremendous charm. Every element of this place brought aloha to our day! From the comfortable surroundings to the daily feedings of the birds, we truly enjoyed our stay. The unit is well equipped, clean and private. Close to nearby resorts and beaches. You will not be disappointed!
A mixed experience that was good overall
This studio is very cute- it’s updated, aesthetically pleasing, and has good amenities. The kitchen was stocked with equipment beyond my expectations. The beach accessories (chairs, towels, umbrella) were really appreciated. There’s a BBQ that I didn’t use. We loved that there was a separate dressing area with space for suitcases and to hang clothes.
For some reason, I thought there was air conditioning which must have been my mistake. The location has an almost constant breeze and when combined with the ceiling fan, it was adequate. The general location is a bit removed, which I conceptually knew, but in practice, the 20+ minute drive to/from the beach, kohala, kona, etc. became a little redundant. The neighborhood is nice, safe, and cute. There are not many vacation rentals- local people live in this area full time.
We had some unusual events happen that make this a mixed bag of a review. I’ll spare the nitty gritty details (nothing too serious) but I’ll speak factually: renters should know there are multiple dogs on site that at times are left unattended inside (I.e., barking). It’s a multiple family unit including people who live there full time (meaning they could get up early, get home late, vacuum, move furniture around, etc). Someone throws fistfuls of birdseed from the second story around the studio’s lanai to attract flocks of birds in the morning.
While I am hesistant to mention the above, I think it’s important to know as part of the decision making process. I really labor over deciding where to stay and I wish I had been more informed. While I really liked the studio and don’t have any complaints with that space, I probably would have stayed elsewhere if I had known a full time resident with pets is living immediately above the rental.
That said, the place is generally clean, cute, has nice views, and a very comfortable bed with some nice amenities.
