Great apartment in the heart of Dublin
I had a fantastic time staying at this apartment in Dublin. It has a great central location, right in the heart of the city. The apartment had everything we needed and it fitted four of us comfortably for a couple of days. The bed was extremely comfortably and the apartment was homely. I would definitely stay here again, and I would recommend it for anyone looking for a short break in Dublin!
Thank you for your lovely review. Your review is really helpful to potential renters who can benefit from your experience and your comments . A big welcome will be waiting for you if you decide to return in the future.
The apartment was perfect for a stay in Dublin. Centrally located to all of Dublin. Clean and tidy.
Perfect location, plenty of room and clean.
We were quoted the rental price in dollars. When we paid, it was converted to pounds and we were charged a 3% conversion fee. Since we were quoted in dollars we expected to pay in dollars, not have to pay to convert. We also had to pay 3% to convert the damage deposit and 3% to convert the return of the damage deposit. And the return of the damage deposit took over 2 weeks.
The flat was fairly well equipped, except it had none of the personal items you'd get at a hotel (soap, shampoo, lotion, etc.). The water heater was tricky to use, as was the shower. The bedroom is very small and we had a hard time finding space for our large suitcases. We did utilize the tiny kitchen for a couple of meals. It is sparsely equipped but good enough. There is no maid service or daily housekeeping, so you're on your own to clean up after yourself.
We chose this flat over a hotel primarily for the location, so we could (and did) walk to most of the sights of Dublin. The building is in a part of town that we would not go back to. We weren't in any danger, but it felt gloomy and sort of rundown. The double locks at the main entrance don't do any good when residents don't make sure both doors are closed. There is a taxi rank right around the corner so it was easy to get a cab to take us to the airport.
This was our first experience with VRBO and we were somewhat disappointed. We could have had a decent hotel for the same amount of money but thought we'd try a flat. We probably won't do this again.
Sorry for the poor review, Carolyn and Inez.
I think it is unfair to compare an experience in an apartment to that which you would get in a hotel. For future reference I have taken on board the point about shampoo etc and some will be provided for guests use. As is usual when you rent any apartment, villa, house etc there will not be a daily maid service and you will need to clean up after yourselves. However, to counter that you will have the flexibility to come and go as you please, you have a lot more space than you would in a hotel and you have the flexibility to cook your own meals should you desire. Perhaps you are used to very large American rooms, but I can assure you that this apartment is reasonably spacious for a Dublin apartment. When I purchased it several years ago, I viewed loads of apartments in close proximity to mine which were very much smaller by comparison. The bedroom is certainly not large, but there is ample space around the bed to move around and place suitcases etc.
Also you make issue over the currency fluctuations. These are inevitable if you book an apartment abroad , and it is made very clear in the listing that it will be billed in UK pounds.
For future travellers looking at this review, I suggest you look at the pictures of the surrounding area. This apartment is not located on the glamourous south side of the city, but it is in a very respectable area of town located close to all the major attractions and is linked to the southside by a 5 minute tram journey which opened at the end of 2017. I don't know why the traveller found it gloomy but that is only their opinion. One of the main things that most travellers are unanimous on is the excellent location of the apartment close to so many amenities.
SOME GOOD BIT AND SOME LESS THAN
The great thing is that this is in prime position and easy to get around. It is clean and nicely furnished. The wifi is decent. Television is very small but has some good channels. Check in was good. Inez was efficient and cordial. ( and patient) The things that could change; everything is a bit futzy... water heating, shower , ( and it is still not a full blast shower), getting in to the building and out-- very secure though. The noise factor affected me as I am a light sleeper and the movies, bars, cars and students were loud. Normally there are bits and bobs in the flats-- oil for cooking etc. but in this place there was none. Also no bathroom soap. However, being so close to all major areas and the walkability made up for the shortcomings
There seems to be a lot of positive things in your review and minor negatives. The getting in and out of the building has never been an issue before so I am unsure of what the problem with that is now. I will investigate that. Also although this is not a hotel, I will ensure that a supply of hand soap and shower gel is available for guests use in the future.
Apartment was perfect..clean, central, comfortable and very secure.
Booked this for my parents to meet up with long lost family in Dublin. The property manager was fabulous!! Helpful, friendly and generally lovely. They could not have asked for a nicer apartment and it was easy to get back to from their travels. They felt very safe and secure. It helped make their wonderful weekend that bit more special. Thank you x
Great location to easily walk to the Temple Bar district
Overall, a wonderful stay. The building was very secure. We were welçomed by the host and toured thru the apartment with ease. About a 10 minute walk to the Temple Bar district with lots to see and do there. Only concern was the low water flow in the shower - not quite what we are used to at home, but managed to make the most of it. Would definitely recommend this location to others!
